Re: governor issues on Arch
Tuned is a sweet program. Yes less cpu used but the slowdown, robotic sounds, pops and crackles didn't stop. look, no xruns either: cadence.png I have a USB mouse, usb wifi which is usually off when mixing/recording and 2 usb drives attached for storage. To bring on the issue, I'd test stuff and I'...

Re: Many sound problems disappear with removing of Pulse, except for...
I read that sometimes hyperthreading might be causing problems. But when I try to turn it off with echo off > /sys/devices/system/cpu/smt/control I get this error, regardless if I enter it as a root or not: bash: /sys/devices/system/cpu/smt/control: Permission denied Why is that so? It has to be do...

Re: governor issues on Arch
I've just had a look at this on my system (Intel). $ cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/policy*/scaling_available_governors conservative performance schedutil I do not have the 'cpupower.service' enabled (never have). In /etc/modules-load.d/modload.conf one of my entries is acpi_cpufreq which resul...

Re: Many sound problems disappear with removing of Pulse, except for...
I would look at other things before messing around with pulseaudio too much because, as you've found, unless you're running a dedicated audio production system you will run in to tedious inconveniences without it . I would concur, if you're new to Linux or using a standard DE install, then try and ...

Re: Many sound problems disappear with removing of Pulse, except for...
I run no DE here, just a WM (Compiz). I have never used Pulseaudio (Linux since 2006). Skype works great. I don't know what Viber is. I believe there are applications that insist on Pulse but I've never used them. I just see Pulse as an unnecessary complication.

Re: Linux support Behringer UMC404HD?
Thanks both for your answers. @turbidh20 By mentioning "the audio coming from USB" I mean when you listen to YouTube using your browser, music from your preferred media player, etc. In my case I have a laptop which I often dock/undock. Can you set the Mix knob in between positions or is i...

Re: Linux support Behringer UMC404HD?
Hello all, Audio interface newbie here! I 'd like to ask the following questions regarding this Behringer unit 1. When used as a plain USB sound card (eg, YouTube, media player, etc) does the USB send audio to the main outputs as well as headphones? Follow up questions for this scenario: 1a. WIll t...

Re: Audio assault plugins @ linux
No absolutely nothing to do with this plugin works.. as we know that Arch is a rolling release and I just have a bad habit of as soon as I turn my computer on, I update so it's right up to date with the bleeding edge updates of everything so I'm just wondering if that could be the problem? I wouldn...

Re: Audio assault plugins @ linux
Sure man any info would be awesome. Thanks! I'm using Openbox. I tried Openbox but the Mixbus GUI wouldn't even appear! I realise I was using the default config so maybe there is something I would need to tweak. I don't have the time to spend on configuring it though. MIxbus was running, so that wa...

Re: Audio assault plugins @ linux
I I was about to ask if everyone is on Ubuntu because I am on Arch so that could be it. Works for me in Mixbus. Arch fully up to date. Hmm, I have a PC 2 laptops running arch and it's not working on any of them. That is odd. If you want any info on my setup then please ask. I'm not using any DE, if...
