Re: Eurydice
I can already tell we're going to be great friends. I have his book about harmony as a reference. Ah, I never read that. I did read the Principles of Orchestration by Rimsky-Korsakov, another one of my favourites. I was a tough one for me, as while I can very slowly read music (I never had formal t...

Re: Intro (to the album I'll never publish!)
I quite liked it! You can work those Rakarrack presets, for sure! I agree. That Angel's Chorus preset sounds awesome! It really is, and I've found I particularly love the "cleaner" presets in Rakarrack, which is where I think it really excels. Apart from the "Succulent clean" I used in the other tr...

Re: I'll be back for you (instrumental version)
Hi, Unfortunately your old link doesn't work for me and says it's removed.. As an example of getting (more) convincingly human drum sounds here are some sequences done with my own drumkits and programmed in Hydrogen with a little post production in Ardour. These examples don't use any 'humanizing' ...

Re: Eurydice
Ah, so that is why your avatar is Tchaikovsky! I've been wondering about that for a while. Exactly! My favourite composer of all times without any doubts... Years ago I made an ardour template for virtual orchestration: https://github.com/michaelwillis/virtual-playing-orchestra-ardour-template I ha...

Re: Eurydice
It's a nice arrangement! I'm always glad to hear when other people are doing arrangements with orchestral instruments. I was surprised when the electric guitar came in. Sometimes mixing electric guitar and bass with orchestral stuff can be trouble, since both can take so much of the frequency band ...

Re: Eurydice
It's more the mix than different sounds. I have a bad room acoustic at the moment, so I can't really judge on the the moment. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RiYC3qEqztg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0bP52imlms https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a0wa7RDB8iE From this couple of examples, I was reall...

Re: I'll be back for you (instrumental version)
Hi, Great work for a first project, rhythmically tight and nice guitar sounds and melodies! Programmed drums are really tough to pull off and on my first listen I think the drums need the most work to give better dynamics and expression, but the best thing about sequenced drums is you can always dr...

Re: Eurydice
The composition is really really great! Soundwise it can be improved I think. Reminds me a little bit on Dargaard or Nucleus Torn. Thanks! Yep, I should find better sounds, but that's a journey that can never end :D I'm not familiar with the artists you mentioned, I'll have to give them a listen. I...

Re: Eurydice
I'm glad you are still here. I was afraid that you wouldn't come back after I read your previous comment. I'll give this a listen when I have a good set of headphones available. What comment? I did clash a bit with someone on a different thread, but I like this forum, the feedback from you guys and...

Eurydice
Hi all, I just published another piece I've been working on these past few days. The first part actually comes from a song I wrote at least 15 years ago, but that I then unfortunately lost forever due to a broken disk: I didn't like how the song progressed at the time, so I started from scratch to r...

Re: Using Hydrogen to play DrumGizmo's DRS Kit
This is the second time in two posts that I've been basically called an idiot. I'm a 40 years old guy that has been working on Linux for 15 years, and authored/maintained several open source tools: I'm not the drooling fool you're painting me as, but apparently you've already decided I am, so who am...
