It comes with the Nyquist install from the repositories.

Strangely it doesn't work to simply point to it from a launcher on my desktop:
No idea what I'm doing wrong...

Where can I get a Nyquist User Interface or Composition Environment? One can find plenty of pdf's on the internet writing about it, but where can one actually download such a thing?

I am almost ready making my backups. It happens too often lately that I cannot work with interesting audio programs because of my old operating system, so I will do the upgrade probably today.

So it has to be Linux Mint 19, and I like Cinnamon. Further it has to have LTS. But how about 19, 19.1 and 19.2...?

Yes - I am already busy making a backup. This is going to be a complete restart where everything has to be reinstalled. That's why it took me so long to find the motivation to upgrade to a newer Linux Mint version.

Thanks! So if I understand correctly you will generally have access to newer versions of programs like LMMS, Audacity, Faust, Nyquist, etc. in your repositories after upgrading Linux Mint to a newer release?

Are the repositories of all releases of Linux Mint the same? That is: do you also get a different repository when you upgrade to a newer Linux Mint release?

The program gcc-4.9-base is already installed:
But other earlier versions are also installed. What to do now? And gcc 5 isn't in the repositories.
