Re: [ANN] LSP Plugins 1.2.6

Wow! What a huge list? This is fantastic news!! What SFZ parsing engine did you end up using? (SFZero, LiquidSFZ, Sfizz, etc.)?

Also, do you happen to have a list of the supported opcodes? This is very exciting news!! :)

Well done! And thank you for your hard work!!!

Best,

Sean

Re: Sequencer for playing live

I don't see Giada listed. That would be MY personal recommendation. :)

I'm looking for a player of .gig, sfz, sf2 files. Mostly keyboards (samples of real electric and acoustic instruments, not synths) and some drum kits.

If you MUST have .gig, then there is only one option for you--Linux Sampler.

Re: Best Sampler for Linux?

The very best product for native Linux is a commercial product called Tal-Sampler. It is made by a reliable company that has a great track record for supporting Linux. They also have a fantastic Drum sampler as well. https://tal-software.com/products Another very good option is Bliss Sampler: https:...

Re: Pipewire, Jack Applications & Low-Latency tuning for soundcards

Pipewire is meant to be the grand unifier for multimedia on Linux Right. It's the "lowest common denominator" in audio support. It's generic, simple, attempts to emulate everything that came before it, and is targeted as a "multimedia API" for your typical desktop/GUI app. I exp...

Re: Pipewire, Jack Applications & Low-Latency tuning for soundcards

JACK through the JACK server JACK through the Pipewire server should yield very similar results A racecar should get you from one location to another. A horse and buggy should give you the same result (as long as it doesn't matter to you how long the trip takes). But they are not the same, and in f...

Re: Pipewire, Jack Applications & Low-Latency tuning for soundcards

Pipewire wants to be a jack replacement It may be billed as such, but as is so often true, there's a big difference between theory and reality. Pipewire is a "compatible replacement" with Jack in the same way that a horse and buggy is a compatible replacement for a race car. Just like the...

Re: Pipewire, Jack Applications & Low-Latency tuning for soundcards

the system as currently configured appears to be good enough for my personal requirements And only you can determine that. But just be aware that Pipewire will never give you the latency you can reduce to via ALSA, or even jack. Pipewire isn't designed for that. Unlike ALSA/JACK, Pipewire is design...

Re: Pipewire, Jack Applications & Low-Latency tuning for soundcards

Hi, I keep coming back to the same question about PipeWire... As someone primarily doing AV Work with a good and proven JACK/Pulse set up and most of the time using Ardour or Mixbus direct to ALSA what real benefit is there to PipeWire? There are already long-running issues with how low latency can...

Re: Pipewire, Jack Applications & Low-Latency tuning for soundcards

what real benefit is there to PipeWire? None whatsoever for musicians. In fact, in terms of performance, it's a step backward for pro-audio use. The entire purpose of Pipewire is to re-invent PulseAudio, but this time design into it the capability to sync video to audio. PulseAudio was designed to ...

Re: How to install low-latency kernel

The nice thing too is that there is more improvement coming, once “all” of the realtime patches are mainlined. (There’s still a few more that aren’t in there yet). Last I heard, there were about 50 patches left to go.

Re: How to install low-latency kernel

Cool! If the Debian team compiled with the Preempt-Dynamic option, this would be the easiest solution. 😎👍🏼

Re: How to install low-latency kernel

Essentially, you just need the /threadirqs and /preempt=full parameters—along with granting realtime scheduling rights to your chosen audio group, and adding yourself to the group, configuring your memlimits, and configuring your preferred Pipewire settings. That’s mostly it. If you still aren’t sa...
