Re: Recordings organisation software

Well there is samplecat (https://ayyi.github.io/samplecat/) but I personally couldn't get it working properly.

You could use directly a file manager - Dolphin for example has tags and you could use plain directories for macro categories.

Re: Step Sequencer for ardour

Even if it could created in Lua I guess, I don't think there is such a thing yet. Ardour is not oriented to beatmaking like LMMS. Perhaps you could use the BSEQuencer LV2 plugin.

A new interface already exists, it's called zyn-fusion.

I agree, new interface so cool, but it no open source.
Yes, it is, if you compile it yourself. Otherwise, our openSUSE repo GeekosDAW provides a working build (but everyone who can afford it is invited to donate to zyn-fusion)

Re: Imago Dei

I think this is truly amazing! I loved the percussion, the guitar playing but above all the vocals. Great composition, great sound, great lyrics.

Re: Videos from the tracks

I pretty much abandoned Openshot for Shotcut, now, and I got a much nicer experience so I think I'll stick with it. I'm an XFCE user which is GTK-based, so kdenlive would force me to get a bunch of KDE dependencies I'd rather avoid. Unless there are reasons to try it anyway? I understand the point ...

Re: Cannot hear my guitar when recording

Wait, I think there might be a way to do it without changing your gear! I use Ardour for recording, not Audacity, and if you use that instead you should be able to avoid needing the monitoring button.

Re: Cannot hear my guitar when recording

Pardon my silly reply but have you tried switching monitoring on by pressing the button on your MAudio MobilePre?

Re: Fiori - now mastered by a SC machine

Too bad you did not keep the original online, I would have been curious to compare them - I understand that it would not be a fair comparison, since you considered the original a draft, but maybe I would have learned something!

This one is good too. I particularly like how the drums sound.

Re: Videos from the tracks

I think they are very good, I've seen some popular electronic musicians with less impressive videos, while yours are at times touching. You could try kdenlive instead of OpenShot, I hear is one of the most fully featured editors out there, even if from my experience it has a very steep learning curve.

Re: Zynspiration

Your son is really talented and inspiring! The work on the arpeggios and above all on the drum synthesis is superb. I think he could have a great career in instrumental electronic music!
