Re: Thank-a-developer day

Can we make a sticky where we list how to donate to certain projects? If I remember correctly I donated a few bucks to LM when it was mentioned in a topic that they need money. Sure, that's a good idea! Anyway it's better if we pick a day so that we know that that day is "Thank a developer day...

Re: Thank-a-developer day

We don't like being forced to interact with animate objects. Funny, when I first saw this thread that's what came to my mind first. Of course I feel very grateful for all the great software, but I kinda picture most of developers as guys who see programming as sort of "solving complex sudokus&...

We got the date, but we missed it by a tiny bit. Shall we go for January 10th (01/10 in the US, 10/01 elsewhere)? It's a nice date because if you OR it, it gives 11, but if you AND it, it gives 00. And since free software gives you freedom, it's always OR.

Re: Thank-a-developer day

Great idea. Maybe either write a sentence or two about why we're thankful and/or else post a piece of music where the software was essential. I like the idea of a special day, but is one day enough? Maybe it should be an ongoing sticky in the developers section. One day is certainly not enough but ...

Thank-a-developer day

Hello, I think that as users, we often forget the cheapest thing we can do to show appreciation to developers of the free/libre software we use - thank them! As such, starting from this forum, I propose we choose a date to make this a regular thing, making sure to thank the developers of those niche...

Porting JUCE programs to DISTRHO/juce for LV2 support

There are several libre JUCE plugins around that can't be easily run on GNU/Linux due to the fact that they use the official release of JUCE, so they only support VST2s (annoying because of the SDK, DMCAs, deprecated standard, etc.). I'd like to port them to DISTRHO/juce so that they can be built as...

Thanks to kott, Geekos DAW also works on Tumbleweed (although we officially only support Leap, due to the fact that both Jo and I use it).

Re: Geekos DAW (libre music-making repository for openSUSE)

Lol. Well for LMMS there is now an appimage file, which works great for me. But the Carla version from the obs does not have wine support. I tried to compile LMMS my self too, with one time even getting errors of which the LMMS devs had no clue on that was causing it, Also was succesfull a few time...

Re: Geekos DAW (libre music-making repository for openSUSE)

OMG, does this mean I will have LMMS with Carla on openSUSE ? :D I have had so many issues with both, because they weren't compiled right. No wine support to name one thing. :) I am currently working on a boogy woogy track. The start is already there. https://soundcloud.com/user586365033/boogiewoog...

Re: Geekos DAW (libre music-making repository for openSUSE)

I've began to build some JUCE-apps/plugins in my repo https://build.opensuse.org/project/show/home:kill_it:JUCE , then they have been submitted to DAW repo. These apps have published code, but it require efforts to users to compile and run: Currently (and it's only openSUSE rpms currently): https:/...

Re: DrumGizmo - Ardour/Mixbus scripts and patchfiles

Man, I'm not a real programmer. I've studied some lua scripts from Ardour and learned how to do it. I don't know how to publish it with free licence either... If the upload in Musical Artifacts is enought, fine. Use it freely... You are a better programmer than many, because you were be able...

Re: DrumGizmo - Ardour/Mixbus scripts and patchfiles

Hi The attachment contains custom versions of the "create_drum_tracks" lua script and midinam/patchfiles for the Drumgizmo Kits. The ".lua" files goes to /home/[username]/.config/[ardourx/mixbusx]/scripts. It will be available in Edit>Lua Scripts>Script Manager. Select one of th...

Re: Geekos DAW (libre music-making repository for openSUSE)

Has anyone tried this out yet? I use OpenSUSE for everything except audio production. I've been using AVLinux, but I really don't like the Debian experience and I've had enough of AVL. I was just thinking of trying to create a stripped down Leap 15.1 tuned for audio when I saw this... Well, aside f...

Re: Open Source Music Nexus Challenge Discussion

I understand your point, but I think that's reversed logic. Open Source DAW are ready to be used to make awesome tracks, in fact, last year's winning track was done in Ardour. Allowing non-OS DAWs doesn't change that. But the choice of available, full-featured, mature Open Source DAWs is still very...
