Re: MIDI sound quality issue

MIDI should have nothing to do with the sound, as the synth probably is sending Note on/off messages. That said, have you tried a different sequencer like Qtractor?

Re: Moderation on linuxmusicians.com?

I like this forum, there are a lot of good people and good feelings are often expressed. I've even made some friends. I think the best thing you can do is to report the offensive posts and leave the decision to keep them or not to the moderators, that's their role.

Re: The Weight of Idleness (Metal track)

Perhaps it's just my taste but I liked your other track, Conflict, much more. I don't feel this one is a step backwards though, on the contrary I think it has more finesse.

Awesome Jonetsu! Enjoyed it a lot, but this time I agree with your own assessment, the mix could be better, particularly when it comes to the solo guitar.

How did you make the drums?

Re: Completely clueless Noob trying to record drums

Hello, first, /dev/midi* is the old way of working with MIDI hardware. Nowadays the preferred way is the ALSA sequencer, which can also be used via JACK. qjackctl probably does not recognize the device because the ALSA bridge is not enabled, so open Qjackctl, then click "Setup", then in the "Setting...

Re: Beginner - record songs via midi and music notation

From what you said, it seems that you are not launching the LV2 version of calf but rather the standalone JACK version. To use the LV2 version, follow this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ZyaufDJF58 but look for CALF Fluidsynth instead of Zynaddsubfx.

Re: I'm Getting Better

I really appreciate variety, and although this is definitely not the kind of music I can enjoy*, I can feel a lot of heart in it and as such, I could appreciate that :D * = I am more into the funkier disco like Chic and Kool & the Gang while this is closer to the disco tracks made by singer-songwrit...

Re: any way to steam jack output to Android over Wifi?

You probably can by serving an HTML page with an <audio> stream to your Android device, but I am not too about how you would stream from JACK to a file (not sure jack_capture would do the trick).

Re: Release: Patroneo v1.6, Vico v1.2 and Fluajho v1.6

The new releases are there alright but I can't find the tarball for Laborejo in https://www.laborejo.org/downloads/ :( Edit: also the CC-BY-ND for the branding files makes it hard to distribute in distro repos. I understand the reasoning (and don't have any problems with nonfree media myself) but yo...

Re: Hello, Zrythm developer here

Argh, I don't have that stuff to compile: meson & ninja. Don't want to install this. So, don't want to test further or even trying to use it. Thanks, though I don't have any time to waste on that! For anyone who compiles their own software, having all mainstream build systems installed is a must. I...

Re: [ignore] how can I ban pulseaudio from my packagemanager?

With all due respect to the PulseAudio developers and to the fact that they made GNU/Linux audio very newbie-friendly, I hope PipeWire goes gold soon and replaces both it and JACK!
