Geekos DAW (libre music-making repository for openSUSE)
Hello, in the past month Jo Boschetti, a veteran openSUSE contributor, started collecting a lot of libre music-making software for GNU/Linux in a single repository on OBS (which is a mix between Github/Gitlab and Arch Linux’ AUR). I joined him after a while, we curated some of the software already a...

Re: VAMP as realtime plugins
I don't think so, they are pretty slow. What are you trying to achieve with the polyphonic pitch tracking that requires it to be real-time? Guitar-to-MIDI conversion without hexaphonic pickups  There are other real-time friendly pitch tracking algorithms that are available under free licenses....

Re: low latency linux audio i/o library
Hi. I've tried PulseAudio with poor results given what I need. I'm trying to make my audio output match the input as fast as possible. Hello, aside from using JACK, what you want to do is called "pitch tracking" and there are several libraries that do it already, most notably aubio which ...

VAMP as realtime plugins
Hello,
is there a way to run VAMP plugins in realtime mode? I know they are meant for audio labeling but they could be useful for things like polyphonic pitch tracking as well.

Re: Percussion Synthesizer
Hi, thank you :) I've added this in the README file. No problem! Thank you for sharing this awesome program. Before the packages gets more popular, a question - do you prefer that packages keep the uppercase first letter (Redkite and Geonkick) or it's indifferent? Also (not related to package, but ...

Re: Percussion Synthesizer
Thanks for the further explanation, Iurie.
Geonkick now has an openSUSE package (redkite as well, same repo). I tested it both standalone and LV2 under Ardour, and it works.

Re: Standardized MIDI map schema
I've been using DrumGizmo a lot and I like your idea, I think. There are actually 127 midi notes available, true? Most of the percussion maps start with the Kick at 35 and go up, sometimes somewhat randomly to, for example in the DRS kit, note 76. I'm about to make my own 'unified' DrumGizmo map of...

Re: Percussion Synthesizer
I'm thinking about writing an LV2 plugin with an interface made in QML which comunicates via OSC to the sound engine, so that the GUI and audio part are well separated. Your opinion as a much more experienced developer would be much appreciated :D Sorry, I have misinterpreted what you mean by this....

Re: [Proposal] LV2 for VST2 developers guide
There are strong arguments to use native C for LV2 programming. At least for the DSP part. If you need realtime, you must not use almost everything that makes the difference between C and C++. Or you have to be very careful. But then the C++ code looks looks quite ugly... Anyway, I use C++ even for...

Standardized MIDI map schema
Hello, Each DrumGizmo kit is different, but a well defined standard for MIDI maps might make life easier for both kit-makers (who don't have to come up with their own layouts) and users, who can just swap different drumkits without having to modify their MIDI sequences. This kind of auditioning of d...

Hello Iurie, sorry for the bump, I actually wanted to come back on this thread to compliment you for the quality of geokick's code, it's very readable C++! Hi! Thank you! I wish I could have time for commenting more the code. I tried to comment at least some sensible points. If you know Qt, that th...

Re: [Proposal] LV2 for VST2 developers guide
Most synths are either VST only or support both VST and LV2. But there are a lot of excellent effects, which are LV2 only. But does that really matter? We have Carla, so you can use LV2 in a VST-only host and vice-versa. And, as I said above, developers can easily choose to support both formats. Ca...

Re: [Proposal] LV2 for VST2 developers guide
Hey, I just wanna say this, I would select lv2 support only if all host supported it. Renoise for example don't have lv2. I would love to use lv2 format only but host don't support it. We can't just make lv2 plugins if there is no hosts that runs it. I think the way is to make hosts support it firs...

Re: [Proposal] LV2 for VST2 developers guide
What's your opinion about DPF , which allows a single project to be built as both LV2 and VST2? When I was getting ready to develop Dragonfly Reverb, I investigated Juce, DPF, and maybe some other frameworks that I've forgotten. I gave up on Juce when I was following the instructions and found that...
