Good compressor for mixbus

I'm quite new to dynamics processing, and I'm in the process of trying to learn compression. I find experimenting with different kinds of compressors on individual tracks to be challenging, but quite rewarding - just load up a compressor, mess about with the settings, and see whether it sounds ok or...

Re: Thread for AV Linux 2020.4.10 Issues

@martibs I had another report about another kernel not showing up when installed but I can't reproduce that issue here, in fact I just switched from 5.4.28 RT to lowlatency in my AVL development VM because Virtualbox really seems to hate RT Kernels and it installed and showed up as expected.. Witho...

Re: Thread for AV Linux 2020.4.10 Issues

I've installed the lowlatency kernel package: dpkg -l | grep lowlatency ii linux-headers-5.4.28avl2-lowlatency 5.4.28avl2-lowlatency-22 amd64 Linux kernel headers for 5.4.28avl2-lowlatency on amd64 But even after running update-grub, it does not create a boot option for the lowlatency kernel: grep "...

Yes, Unetbootin did the trick. Writing this from my new AVLinux installation. Should have read the manual :)

Re: AV Linux 2020.4.10 Released!!

I was ready to make the jump to AV Linux today, but I was not able to boot from the ISO. I have a Dell Precision 3431, with UEFI Secure Boot BIOS. I have tried both disabling Secure Boot and enabling Legacy Devices. The thumb drive appears in a list of boot devices, but when selected, fails with "Se...

Re: Persistent Cadence Jack MIDI connections

In case anyone else is facing a similar issue, this is how I solved it. A simple python script hooks the defined connections up. I simply run the script ad hoc. (Needs Jack for Python: https://jackclient-python.readthedocs.io ) #!/bin/python3 import jack import re # List of devices pyramid = 'Pyrami...

Re: AV Linux 2020.1.14 Release Candidate for testing only

Secure boot is disabled on my system.

There is an option to run the UEFI in legacy BIOS mode, however, I'm hestitant to try that, as I'm not sure what the implications are.

Re: AV Linux 2020.1.14 Release Candidate for testing only

Are there any plans to make the distro UEFI compatible? I would like to set up dual boot on my UEFI system, but I'm not even able to boot the ISO.

Long thread on the Behringer here (202 and 204 are basically the same): https://www.audiosciencereview.com/foru ... 04hd.1658/

It works fine on Linux.

Persistent Cadence Jack MIDI connections

I have a home studio solution set up where I have a certain amount of hardware instruments hooked up to my computer, as well as a hardware MIDI sequencer to control all these devices, which is also connected to my computer via USB. I use Cadence to manage my Jack connections, and it works great. I e...

Re: USB Audio interface for low latency

Would like to add to what noedig have said here, other factors have a say in how low latency you are able to get. I have a laptop which cannot do low latency settings while the wireless network device is activated (and it doesn't have a physical interface). Other aspects of the hardware, such as bat...

Turns out there was an issue with the cable! The device now shows up, and I can send CCs, which is what I wanted.

Eventide stompbox USB-MIDI

Does anyone have any experience with Eventide stompboxes and controlling them via USB-MIDI? I have a H9 unit, which does not show up on my system when I plug it in. This is from dmesg: [350354.209479] usb 1-2.1: new full-speed USB device number 30 using xhci_hcd [350369.713315] usb 1-2.1: device des...

I spoke in error. The settings are not stored after a complete shutdown off the device, by disconnecting the power supply.
