Behind the Music

Great!! You used EnergyXT? How have you done the Drum n Bass beat? Thanks! I'm glad you liked it. I use both EnergyXT and REAPER, and sometimes Qtractor or LMMS to generate parts. I think I made some stuff with Hydrogen too. That's not easy to answer briefly, but I'll try. Not necessarily in this t...

Re: 44.1 kHz is slowly reaching its end

I sure hope MP3 dies before 44.1  Considering that its patents expired recently and it is now a free format, I expect a small surge in popularity of it. Wow, that's a good point. You're right. I suppose on account of that, it will be here for another 13 years  :!: :|  ...

Re: [SOLVED] What should I do to make MX Linux pro audio?

I am in the early steps of writing an E-Book on implementing a Linux DAW from nearly scratch. Wow, that's ambitious! If you're willing, please share early drafts as you go. I think you'll have better results if you incorporate feedback early and often. I'm willing to at least read through your mate...

Re: shm tmps

@khz Thanks for the recent reply. You were right about everything, pretty much. And yes, the error I had from using the wrong RAM settings wasn't critical; I might have booted into Puppy Linux to edit fstab. But I wasn't totally worried anyhow, since I always have a SWAP partition happening. I figur...

Re: [SOLVED] What should I do to make MX Linux pro audio?

Liquorix Kernel Debian install instructions work for MX Linux https://liquorix.net/ https://forum.mxlinux.org/viewtopic.php?t=43202 Wow thanks! I've been OK with the AVLINUX RT kernel, but I'll give that one a try too! I appreciate the direct and concise help. If anybody else is intereste...

Re: Surrount sound Audio Mastering.

Also, look into HRTF (head-related transfer function) plugins/modules/softwares.
Good luck!

Cockos REAPER has some functionality too, if you already have that.
But of course native Linux might be less fiddly and nicer.

Re: 44.1 kHz is slowly reaching its end

I sure hope MP3 dies before 44.1  I have been waiting for the MP3 format to just up and die ever since I discovered WavPack (WV), FLAC, OPUS, M4A/AAc, and OGG. After getting the shpiel from hydrogenaud.io as well as doing my own listening tests, I am just done with MP3. It's frustrating that mo...

Rock on, Linux/FOSS

i remember back in the day, commercial CD music bands would list a ton of their gear within the CD liner jacket notes. I think it's a good idea to credit Linux and the plugin makers. I'm going to start doing this more and more. I just recently started crediting Linux on my music webpages. Eventually...

Cinnelike

Wow nice! I have read a bit about Cinelerra and seen it in a distro somewhere, probably AVLINUX. It's very impressive! I don't know much about video editing, but I always keep some video stuff around because they're fun to play with and I might take a break from music to make some of my own videos. ...

Stepping onward...

Wow, thanks for the info.
I started out as a pure hardware guy even though now I'm a pure software guy.
I'd like to get back to a hybrid system with only the advantages.
This type of stuff interests me. I appreciate the info very much.

More scatter-brained tunes for ya!

Well, I've decided that I might not add lyrics to some of my tunes just yet. It's really hard for me to do vocals, and I don't own a proper microphone. To make matters worse, the guy I live with is really loud with power tools and movies and stomping around. On the plus side, he doesn't mind...

I like your style. The dialogue track works well with the melody and textures.
The music is relaxing while still interesting; exactly what I like in music.
