Re: Should I carry on with my Tascam DP-006, or would I be better with Audacity?
Re-reading your post actually you want to streamline the process, so using Audacity would the remove the step of transferring the .wav files into the computer. Yeah, but not at a loss of quality. There's so much music out there and the quality is all really dreadful. I think what I'd like in an ide...

Re: Making music as you get older
- That there's no value in creating original music if you aren't "Trying to make it" as a pro. - That a person my age shouldn't be "Trying to make it", because stardom is for young people. I hope it's acceptable to revive a dead thread, but these points resonated with me and I t...

Yes, it's all about context.

Re: Hello everyone!
Thanks, guys! Vintage? I would rather say traditional music concerning Ukulele (even though 1920-1960 might be seen as vintage in itself, composing for Ukulele in that time might be a lot inspired by traditional music, am I wrong?). Not at all! Don't get me wrong, I listen to all sorts of music but ...

Re: Should I carry on with my Tascam DP-006, or would I be better with Audacity?
I have no experience with USB microphones and can't recommend anything in particular. If the device states it is USB class compliant then it should just work when plugged in. They're funny things, USB mics. I bought one once that refused to play with Debian, then after a while I got it to work with...

Yes.
I like to really get under the skin of anything I learn, so I listen to any YouTube recordings I can find including covers.
My test is if I get sick of the song. Just because it's old, doesn't mean it's good!

I was going to say Shipbuilding by Robert Wyatt, but it turns out that's only 39 years old.

Should I carry on with my Tascam DP-006, or would I be better with Audacity?
Hi! I like to make recordings of myself singing, playing ukulele acoustically and occasionally recording my friend on the piano. This is all done in the most straightforward way possible. I've got a Tascam DP-006, but I don't really need the multitrack aspect of it. It's capable of excellent results...

Re: Cheap tablet/ereader for sheet music
My personal theory is that for some people, their electronic devices become a little "bubble" which makes them a bit more insular. All these notifications vying for your attention, and of course the algorithms have worked out exactly what you're interested in, so the little messages in the...

Hello everyone!
Hi folks Long time lurker, but very rare poster. I'm colonel_panic, AKA Chris. I live in a little house in a town on the edge of the Peak District in England. I play the ukulele, and specifically I'm interested in music written from about 1920-60. It's just so well put together! I play and sing and ...

Re: Cheap tablet/ereader for sheet music
Pre COVID unpleasantness, I used to occasionally visit ukulele clubs. Everyone has chord sheets. I noticed that when people replaced their songbooks with tablets they became less able (or maybe less willing) to share the music with the person next to them. People started sitting on their own more. A...

Interesting comments. Thanks guys! kbongosmusic , I really appreciate the detailed response. I like the idea of the H1, it means less junk hanging around when I'm not using it. I think that might be the winner. chaocrator , netbooks are fabulous! All my life I dreamed of such a useful, powerful litt...

Have you tried removing the other USB devices, and trying it on a different port?
