Re: MIDI Plugins in QTractor

Thank you. I did know about the auto-monitor, but that was just an exercise. On the whole, the setup is much more complex, and I cannot rely on a track being highlighted. I want to be able to automate this, set monitor on on one track, later on another, to change instruments without the need of syse...

MIDI Plugins in QTractor

Hi, I own a stagepiano that lacks features of a typical MIDI-Masterkeyboard. So I am trying to achieve some of that with MIDI-Plugins. As a first exercise I wanted to map a midi-channel to another. I have a midi track in QTractor with an instrument plugin. I have set this to "monitor" on. ...

Re: Guitarix & Behringer UMC202HD

Maybe you should concentrate on one aspect first. a) Play guitar through Guitarix b) Use a DAW. There are different ways to do this, and you have gotten good advice here already. I would do as follows: a) Plug in your Behringer UMC and turn it on (I have a bigger Behringer interface which has to be ...

Re: Guitarrix Cabinet IR or not?

Tone Control - Cabinet is the "normal" cabinet simulation.

There is one based on impulse-response, too, but I am not familiar with that.

changing sounds for live-setup

Hi, I use qtractor for preparing a live-mix for a small band. For my last gig I saved the settings for each song in a qtractor-file and loaded the next file for the next song. For my next project, there will be a kind medley involved, so this won't be fast enough. What I would like: Click on one key...

Re: Versilian Community Sample Library

Ok, I've found out: - it works in linuxsampler - for the xylophone, the keys are c - c# - d below the playable notes In linuxsampler, you hear nothing until you press some of those keys, so there is no default-layer it seems. Sorry for being off-topic, this seems more a carla-issue than a vcsl - iss...

Re: Versilian Community Sample Library

Hi, I am just trying out the sfz version of vcsl. I've loaded xylophone keyswitch into carla rack. Plays fine, sounds great, but how do I switch the articulation? I have read the python script that generates them and thought that I had to press keys below the instrument-range (or up) do switch, but ...

Re: One month and counting without RT kernel on Arch Linux

Hi, sorry for resurrecting this old thread. As for the question if the rt-kernel makes a difference or if the stock-arch-kernel (which uses some settings useful for rt anyway) is good enough: I use an older machine for music recording, and here, it does. I had the occasional xrun, which didn't bothe...

Re: Plugin bridges and Qtractor issues

Interesting post, thanks for the compilation.

I had once tried to use some vst-plugins, but I failed. Probably because those were part of Steinberg Cubase and only run with the licenser-dongle.

Can you name some of your plugins, maybe some favourites? I'm just curious.

Re: Synth in QTractor

My problem was different. After using the recomended setting, the program still did change.

The track was imported from Muse Score, there was a program change event in it. That was quite hard to notice!

Regards,

Andreas

Re: Synth in QTractor

Thanks! I think the "no instrument - no bank - no sound" property is important, as I did differently, and it didn't work. I'll try it out this evening!

Synth in QTractor

Hi, I'd like to use Yoshimi or ZynAddSubFX as a plugin in QTractor. How must I set things up to be able to choose the bank and the sound? I had the problem that the sound kept switching back to another sound, so I think I must be doing something wrong. Also, which of the two is better for use within...

Re: Most used Linux distribution?

You are probably right, as Ubuntu is Debian-based, too. I do system-administration quite a lot, "make things work" and stuff like that. I used to use OpenSuSE and when trying to get certain software I found that most software-authors support Ubuntu. It is really unlikely that someone offer...

Re: Choppy sound recording a guitar using Mint 18.3 and a Line6 Pod X3 Live – Kernel issues?

The Pod XT is guitar only, and it's still far older: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Line_6_(company)#POD_Products_History Also, the "live"-products are (as the name says) much better useable live (because of the pedalboard and controller) while having no real disadvantages on the other side...
