Re: Tool for rendering instrument plugins to samples?

Yes please! I don't have those repos installed and would rather not install just for this app. Is there a way to access the repo packages without adding them to my install? I don't know much about Ubuntu, so I'm really not sure. However, I think you could take the .deb from Launchpad directly (thou...

Re: Tool for rendering instrument plugins to samples?

If you manage to build this on an Ubuntu based distro please send me a copy :) It seems like it's already available in the KXStudio repositories. Do you still want a copy anyway? Yes please! Re: Notation editor that supports piano tabs?

Well this won't be the answer you want but... being slowed down is good, do it more and you'll get faster, but maybe start with simpler music. Get yourself a real-book (or fake book) and just practice playing single note lines with block chords, when you can do that then progress to something more c...

Re: Versilian Community Sample Library

How does Hise compile on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS derivatives ? HISE auto-generates a makefile so it's easy to compile with a single command. Try it for yourself - https://github.com/christophhart/HISE I would note that HISE is still a work-in-progress Isn't all good software? The day a piece of software i...

Re: Versilian Community Sample Library

pardon my ignorance but does HISE offer any solution over sfz? (http://www.hise.audio/) HISE is a tool for building virtual instruments that can be exported as VSTi/AU plugins that will run on GNU/Linux, Mac, or Windows. It can create instruments that are much more sophisticated than what can be ac...

The original format was very loosely defined and since then each developer has added their own opcodes. What will probably become the eventual standard is the opcodes used by the Aria engine.

LinuxSampler is not free software unfortunately. HISE is though, and the sampler engine is available separately and might be a good base for your own project.

Actually with the current sale I can get the phone for $249, I'm very tempted although I will have to buy a laptop and Librem key (no idea what that is) too.

Re: Librem 5 - smartphone based on Debian > android-free \o/

Linux & Open Source products at premium corporate rates just doesn't feel right. That is totally illogical. The term Open Source was coined to appeal to corporations, it was to encourage them to release free (as in freedom) software without having to discuss the ethics of digital freedom. A lot...

Re: A video promoting the use of open-source software for music production

No you don't. You are bound by a license the same way as with proprietary software. You are definitely not bound in the same way as with proprietary software, that is why one is called proprietary and one is called free. But depending on the way the software is released it is true that you may stil...

Re: A video promoting the use of open-source software for music production

Guys, commercial is not the opposite of open source. Proprietary or closed source is the opposite. There is plenty of free/open source software that is commercial.

Re: A video promoting the use of open-source software for music production

I do not know about HISE. I quickly took a look and it mentions being a framework. I do not want to program software for music. HISE is a tool for creating VSTi sample libraries. So not much use directly to musicians, but because it's entirely free it means developers can finally create free sample...
