Re: Is using sample-based instruments incompatible with Creative Commons licenses?
1: In the context of this discussion, a one short sample. A note for an instrument etc 2: No because it doesn't change the size of the original bit. 3: Each individual bit will be classed as incidental. If we're talking about a single sample I think we are now talking hypothetical scenario rather t...

Re: Is using sample-based instruments incompatible with Creative Commons licenses?
Which means you can include small bits of copyrighted material as a part of your work If you're in this territory it's probably lawyer time. What is a small bit? What if you use the small bit more than once to make a loop, does it then become a larger bit? What if you're entire work is made from sm...

Re: Is using sample-based instruments incompatible with Creative Commons licenses?
Don't be an asshole. Just give credit. Recording good instrument samples is a lot of work. Where do you draw the line though, if any? All the software one uses for making music takes a lot of work developing (and maintaining). OS, sequencer, synth plugins, effects plugins...To not be an asshole one...

Re: Reaper with CLAP support
All this libre-software purism looks hypocritical since you use closed BIOSes, firmwares, mobile apps, home appliance, cars etc. If I had a choice I would prefer all of them to be open - except maybe cars, I have mixed feelings about them since they pose a safety risk and I don't want just any idio...

Re: Reaper with CLAP support
A really strange idea and violates the idea of free choice. As a user I am interested in having free choice over how the software I use runs, and what it does. If the software is proprietary then the developer has made the choice to restrict me and I have no intention of supporting that choice. fre...

Re: Reaper with CLAP support
Are there any CLAP plugins yet? https://www.acmt.co.uk/ Now VST2, VST3, CLAP and JACK. I regularly post about these just about everywhere, but it seems there is a google-proof forcefield surrounding them despite my best efforts, so if you try them and you like them, spread the message :) Proprietar...

Re: Reaper with CLAP support
why is the seventh new native linux format such a good thing? is bigger, higher, stronger really allways the golden path to go? I never missed clap and now it is here, I can not say I can't live without it. Maybe I missed something? Next to the spliff, next to the great Next to that chick who said ...
