Re: Playing a sampled Instrument in 2021 – is it really that complicated?

I have the same behavior with sfizz taking 20+ sec to load its gui in Ardour 5. I don't play keyboards well enough to notice the second behavior, because I always program the notes into the piano roll.

Re: Blazing - New original rock track

Nice song, with lots of energy. I'm not a big fan of rap rock, but it's a pretty good performance by your wife. My favorite is the guitar, though. You really tear it up on the 6 strings in this recording. Nice job!

Re: A new one from me -sort of

I like the chill mood of this one. It makes me want to throw a pebble in and just watch the ripples. Your melodies just jeep going and going for measure imupon measure, almost like a J.S.Bach melody. Very nice, and rare to hear these days. My one little complaint is that the patch that comes in abou...

Re: Dreams of Seagulls - Mountain flowers (synthpop ballad)

I think it is mostly her performance. She is singing with more energy than the piece warrants, I think. But bringing the voice down in the mix might help. And that's easier to do, than record a new vocal take anyway.

Re: Arctic 80 (competition entry for DJs for Climate Action)

I like this track. You did a nice job with all of the sounds, and good patches on the synths. I like the transitions in in the drum pattern.

Linux is on Mars

The Perseverence rover has a Linux box running ffmpeg to process video. They just announced that in the NASA presentation. They gave a nice shout-out to the open source community. Go Linux!

Re: Dreams of Seagulls - Mountain flowers (synthpop ballad)

I really like the gentle feel and instrumentation of this one. The portamento synth is especially nice. Maybe it's just the gentleness of the piece, but the voice seems a little harsh by comparison on this one.

Re: Why does giving your music as a gift feel awkward? Should it?

Interesting how universal this experience has been for us! I could share another half a dozen anecdotes from my own attempts to give away my music, all along the same lines. I thought it was just my social phobia making me feel awkward about it, but this thread makes me think there is more to it, an...

Does anyone have experience with Vimeo? They look like a reasonable YouTube alternative.

Re: Linux Veteran - Mac Studio - Please Help

Welcome! I am guessing that you won't be satisfied with Ardour or any of the native Linux DAWs, but that shouldn't stop you from taking them on a test drive. I have no idea whether Studio One can be made to run on Linux. That is probably a question to pose in the Running Non-Linux Software subforum....

Welcome! You're in the right place. Glad to have you here. I'm also a guitarist who dabbles in other instruments here and there.

Re: Hello everyone!

Welcome! I'm interested to hear your ukelele music. I never downloaded Linux on floppies, but I do recall trying to use Red Hat and Caldera Linux in 2000. It took me about 2 hours of trial and error to get a setting that would work with my monitor in xfree86config. Man, things have come a long way s...

Re: I recently switched my OS to ubuntu studio, trouble with DAWs

Welcome to Linux! I did my OS migration years before my audio migration, so I hope you manage to pull off both at once. I highly recommend that you read the Ardour manual. That is the fastest way to get up to speed on how it works and how to use it. https://manual.ardour.org/toc/ Also, the recommend...
