Re: Going Viral, The Beach is Closed

Hey, thanks for listening @Basslint and @oscillator. The choir is just me. :) I've been experimenting with more harmonies and deep-layering voices lately, and it is a lot of fun. It takes me back to my high school choir days.

Re: 'Thanks for posts' plugin for phpBB3

Ah well, thanks for clarifying, but my point holds, a thumbs up can also act like an informal polling mechanism. AFAIU, we're having a debate on a proposal with the aim of understanding each others concerns and moving towards a possible consensus. I don't think it would be harmful, and I think that...

Re: Going Viral, The Beach is Closed

Thanks, all. I appreciate you taking the time to listen and comment, and I'm glad you like the songs. This project is a lot of fun, and having my kids involved really amplifies the fun. I can't wait to share the whole project with you. My cousin is a good songwriter. I grew up on the Beach Boys, and...

Re: Greetings!

Welcome to the forum. We're glad you're here. I went through a blues phase for several months a while back. Listened to very little else but classic blues recordings. I sure learned a lot, and it changed the way I listen to rock and roll forever. Let us know if you need a hand with getting your inte...

Going Viral, The Beach is Closed

My cousin and I are working on a collection of songs about the pandemic. We're not done with the whole project yet, but I wanted to share a couple of tracks that I did, called "Going Viral" and "The Beach is Closed." https://alansanderson.band/2020/05/14/going-viral-beach-closed/ "Going Viral" is an...

Re: Use linux and NON DAW

apehuf : Back to your original question. If you are a Windows user with limited Linux experience, then you may be biting off more than you can chew all at once by diving headfirst into the Non-world. You need a fallback option. I won't discourage you from taking on a challenge, and Non is powerful ...

Re: Hard (industrial?) electro: Tristate

@milo: would you have preferred an ending with a little more oomph to it? :) Granted it is rather subtle, not in keeping with the uncompromising rest. :) Glad you liked it though. I don't think it's a bad ending, just a bit anticlimactic. The pieces of the tapestry fall off one by one for the last ...

This is making me move my head from side to side, a little dancing in place here at my standing workstation. Thanks for the groovin' beat this morning!

Re: Hard (industrial?) electro: Tristate

I like this track. It's not so "hard," though. It only inspires a half-hearted mosh pit.

Very nice layering of synths, and excellent choice of sounds. Very well balanced. Thanks for sharing this!

EDIT: I will say, as a minor complaint, that the ending is a bit unsatisfying.

Re: New LMMS album: Dehydrater

Been listening through the afternoon, and these are some nice sounds. I especially like "Fete Foraine Abandonee," and "Columbo versus Kojak, with a Chainsaw" (which is about the coolest name for a song ever).

Re: 1000+ LV2 plugins

Maybe people could learn how to overcome this by getting "too" many plugins and learn to lean into and move through and beyond the pain ;) Agreed. Too much choice is exactly the sort of "problem" we want. Yes, dig in to the pile. Use them! Discard the ones you don't like. Support the ones you do, b...

Re: Recording King Diamond with Guitarix and TuxGuitar

That is really ambitious to do in TuxGuitar. I have wrtten a few multi-voice tablatures there, but have never been happy with the interface. You are getting some decent sounds out of it though. Nice work!

Re: How does the GPL apply to sound fonts?

Oh, that's a different issue, and I'm not sure what to say. The thorny issue is that a song produced using the GPL soundfont necessarily includes the GPL'd material, so the song is a derivative work. And does it even make sense to apply the GPL to a music recording? It seems like an audio-specific l...
