Re: (solved) lmms stalls all the time. Do not come into my project

rsnapshot is my favorite tool. Doesn't take a lot of disk space because it uses a lot of hard links instead of copying files from snapshot to snapshot. My only concern with automating backups on my studio machine is that I don't want them running in the background while I'm recording or otherwise us...

Re: Страна Идиотов — Панк-рок инвалид (russian language punk rock)

It's funny how punk sounds pretty much the same in every language. I once listened to a punk band from Spain, and after I got past the fact that I couldn't understand any of it, I realized that it was mostly indistiguishable from British or American punk. Congratulations on busting out a whole album...

Re: No sound from MIDI Keyboard and Zyn/Yoshimi

What happens in LMMS? How about Amsynth? Anywhere else? Do you get tones from your midi input there?

Is there a volume slider on the keyboard that is set to zero?

Re: (solved) lmms stalls all the time. Do not come into my project

[Tangential to Original Topic:] I've heard it said that there are two kinds of users: those that back up their data, and those that will back up their data. Having a good backup saved my bacon a few months ago when one of my Ardour projects got corrupted, but in the past I have lost gigabytes of pr...

Re: My list of too much gear.

Squier Strat (the low one on the totem pole, although I do enjoy playing it) Squier Strats are good instruments for the money. They are almost too good for a beginner guitar, because they play so well that you don't feel the need to upgrade them. My cousin has been playing his Squier Strat for deca...

Re: My opinion about everything (TL;DR)

Then also it would be cool to allow positioning of a track with a WAV display lined up with the drum grid so you could align hits with transients in the WAV file. YES! That is the single biggest problem with the Hydrogen workflow for me, and why I currently prefer to program drums in a midi track. ...

Re: Two New Projects

I got the second song to play today, and it is awesome! Very strong work. Lots of variety, and lots of interesting sounds. I love the intro; it sort of reminds me of the automobile sounds made on the Mini Moog in the original 1975 Autobahn recording.

Re: My opinion about everything (TL;DR)

The monolithic apps are still used in a modular way, especially when it comes to plugins on midi tracks. A software instrument running as an LV2 plugin on a midi track in a DAW can be replaced for another one easily. You could replace Amsynth with ZynAddSubFX, for instance, without having to copy/pa...

Re: Two New Projects

This is really good! So, to be clear, you were playing an acoustic vibraphone over synth tracks, correct? I'm impressed with your vibe playing! I have a couple of Modern Jazz Quartet albums and have always loved the sound of the vibraphone.

For some reason I can't get the second track to play.

Re: Windows, Wine, Jack audio server or wineasio?

If you want to replicate your Windows workflow on Linux . . . then why don't you just use Windows? My Linux migration took a few years, and I picked up one Linux audio tool after another. My DAW stayed on Windows for a while, but I started using Hydrogen and then LMMS on Linux before finally taking ...

Re: How to reduce size of plugins in ardour 5.12?

There is not an easy solution, and I have the same issue on my system. The geonkick developer acknowledged the problem in this thread: https://linuxmusicians.com/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=19400&hilit=geonkick&start=30#p106962 . Apparently it will take some code-level changes to fix it. For no...

Re: UDUK Innovation

So the Raspberry PI is embedded in the instrument, correct? Or is it external? I assume that the Scarlett 2i2 is not inside the instrument. And is that some kind of touch screen display on the guitar? Do you have a video of this setup in use? I'm continually impressed with the DIY possibilities of L...

Re: UDUK Innovation

Solid tones, and very interesting. You violin hybrids are especially curious. How do you do it? And tell us about the software and interface for that embedded Raspberry Pi in your guitar. That is quite interesting.
