Re: The Silver Thread and other winter works

I like that guitar piece, and the tour of Gatchina. Beautiful old churches!

Re: jam710

Not sure how I missed this before. This forum seems to have gotten busier in the past few months - more unread posts to wade through. Your jam is like the needle in the haystack, and somehow I just didn't see it until today. I like the sound you're getting on this jam. It is a good mix of synths and...

Re: A song with a bit of history

This is lovely! Nicely performed, recorded, and mixed. Is that you singing? That's a solid performance.

This recording is just dripping with affect, like squeezing water from a sponge. You really nailed the emotion of the song.

Re: How to get Ardour to work with my rig?

I recommend reading the Ardour manual. I read it cover to cover last year and it helped me a lot with stuff like this. You can do a lot, probably most or all, of the signal routing you need right within Ardour.

Re: Let's talk notation, hacker style!

Does tablature count? I can learn a song from guitar tablature 100x faster than from standard notation, because tablature mimics the way I think about how the music is played. Guitar music is about where I put my fingers on the fretboard, not about what the names of the notes are. What do you think ...

Yes, the music is very interesting. I enjoyed listening. The video induces vertigo, though. :)

Re: How to get Ardour to work with my rig?

I had the same problem the first time I used Ardour. You probably have to make connections on the routing grid: https://manual.ardour.org/signal-routing/Patchbay/

Re: Linux Lite Music Computer

I tried Ubuntu and Linux mint, but found Linux Lite was the best distro for my amd phenom 2 pc, with the m-audio delta 2496. So I got Bitwig 2.3.5 on it. I’ve gotten into trackers, I’ve got Tutka, Sunvox and PixiTracker. I had a more powerful pc, which is a Hackintosh and windows machine, but I had...

Re: recording EQ, compressors, etc plugins

You maybe could achieve what you want by piping a standalone Guitarix into a DAW track. Great tools for shaping your sound there, including 3-band EQ on the amps.

Re: Happy newbie

Welcome Wanderstweek! Audacity is a good place to start, and I have used it one several recordings over the years. When you get tired of its limitations there are many other options. I eventually graduated on to Ardour, which I am super happy with. Another powerful option is Qtractor, which seems to...

Re: [LAA] Noise repellent 0.1.5 is out!

Compiling software is not as scary as it sounds. I am not a coder, but I managed to muck through the process from the instructions on Github. I wrote a little tutorial a few months ago where I described how the process deviated from the instructions a little bit for me (on Linux Mint 19). It was bas...
