Re: Ubuntustudio vs 64studio?
When I switch it in jack control to Interface hw:1 it recognizes my ua-101 and I can see all 10 inputs(actually 12 becuase th first 2 are mic inputs on my toshiba qosmio laptop) so it is recognized and it will record through the edirol ua-101 but no real time. I am wondering if because I am seeing ...

Re: Need help choosing cheap (<£80) sound card for recording
A very cheap USB card is the Behringer UCA202, but sure, a PCI m-audio or RME is much better. I have a PCI m-audio audiophile 2496 and it works like a charm. Well, if you need more than 2 ins/outs, the Delta 44 is a good choice, imho. Take a look at: http://ardour.org/realfaq#audioio PS: Philip's PP...

Re: Impulse convolver/guitarix
by the way, I have check in SVN a new MultiClient structure (guitarix_amp -> guitarix_fx) witch allow to include other jack app's (for example Rakarrack or jack-rack) in the effect chain between amp and convolver. That's only the first introduction and may be change next time.

Re: How to connect jack and jackrack and other?
Btw, i use a sb live, not onboard. Does the connections have anything to say? Ie, if i have the connection settings wrong. Or does jack give me xruns and other error messages, if i've got it wrong? Hi, You could have internal mixing and the sound goes directly from the inputs to the outputs so you ...

Re: Multimedia players through jack in ubuntu karmic and lucid
Hi! I have edited the how-to as there are several changes for lucid. The snd-aloop trick is a good one, but unfortunately, it is not easy setting this up in ubuntu :( I find alsa-jack plugin rather buggy. Pulseaudio jack audiosink is another option I haven't tried. Auto, thanks for your suggestion, ...

I am not used to listen to this style, but it sounds amazingly well. Thanks for sharing!

keep it up!
(By the way, thanks for makekit)

Re: best distro for pro studio?
Yes, it is a matter of taste and experiences. ubuntu is supposed to be easy for newcomers. However, there are lots of "easy" distros, but less marketed. In any case, I dont think it has a "windows feeling", I don't think so. I don' t say ubuntu is the best distro for pro audio wo...

Hi Zen! I like your article in the #! forum. Here it is my list of "mostly trusted" PPA's for ubuntu 9.10: ppa:autostatic/ppa ppa:dooooomi/ppa ppa:motin-until-jack-is-included-in-main ppa:philip5/extra ppa:puredyne-team/ppa For ubuntu beginners, the following is very important: I insist on...

Re: rtirq-init?
Hi! $export SOUND_CARD_IRQ=17 $perl realTimeConfigQuickScan.pl As for the rtirq-init script, even if it launches at start and the script says it is OK, it could be misconfigured. The configuration file of rtirq-init is using generic words as "rtc" and "snd" while you may need, in...

Re: Problems with Qsynth and Yoshimi
The simplest and most obvious way not to write the commands each time, is by adding a launcher. If you are in gnome, right click on the panel and add a custom launcher (in other desktop environments should be easy too). Put the name, as you like, and the command you need (say "ajmidii -e",...

Re: Problems with Qsynth and Yoshimi
(.sf2 because I couldn't figure out how the sfArk works) You need to uncompress sfark files. The easiest solution I am aware of is downloading sfark for Windows from melodymachine.com and install and run it through wine. sfark for Linux won't work out of the box afaict. I can see the little green l...
