Re: Alternatives to GRUB Customizer?

As the name rEFInd indicates it's for booting from EFI, not MBR.

Re: Poll: What samplerate do you use with jack?

Sigh.. My two cents. This is a contentious topic which has been discussed to death many times already. Most threads end up in similar train wrecks... IMO there is no right or wrong, and it's very much a question depending on opinion and circumstances... I just recorded and released a CD, it was reco...

Re: Alternatives to GRUB Customizer?

I'd add my vote for rEFInd too. It's what I use on my uefi machines too. It's way better (IMO) than grub... Note that you don't really have to use all the crazy grub 2.0 stuff, you can more or less make a simple grub 1.0 config file and still use that, this isn't quite evident from the documentation...

Re: Who's educated?

Honestly 42low, please stop being annoying and self centered. I come here to read about linux audio, and not for reading about how you feel misunderstood by the world. If you really feel a strong need to post about how you feel mistreated, then please do so in ONE post and then let it go... These re...

Re: Help - WineAsio don't recognize usb interface

If JACK is running then wineasio ought to connect to JACK. Note that wineasio doesn't interact directly with the soundcard, it does everything through JACK. Also note that there is a native linux build of reaper around nowadays.

Re: Linux REAPER works!

The latest beta 5.94pre6 bundles LiberationSans & LiberationMono, hopefully this will take care of the problem.

If not please make a screenshot so that we can see what your system displays.

Re: Just ONE xrun, and VSTs crash my audio

After reading the entire thread, my guess would be the soundcard. Try running JACK on the HDA for a while for testing, if it works there and not on the motu then there is a strong indication as to where to search for the problem. Maybe try the onboard FW instead of the addon, try the alsa FW drivers...

Re: Linux REAPER works!

@Jack Winter: Can someone please, please make the fonts better on linux as a priority ? - on RPi3 particularly for some reason (Ubuntu MATE 16.04) it makes my eyes hurt - there is something very wrong with the rendering, to the point where its not just ugly, its painful to use. Otherwise its great,...

Re: Linux REAPER works!

Yes we're cooking at the moment :) It's nearly there, the big missing feature is LV2, LADSPA & DSSI support. Otherwise it ought to be on par with the windows & os/x versions. But of course it's gonna need a good bug shake out, not that it's unstable in anyways, nor that it's bug ridden. Just...

Re: Linux REAPER works!

REAPER for Linux supports it's built in FX and Linux VST2/3. It does not support LADSPA, DSSI, LV2 or Windows VSTs. Files with a .dll extension are Windows files, and will have to be bridged/loaded by LinVst, Airwave, Carla, etc. Alternatively you could run the Windows version of REAPER in WINE, in ...

Re: Good piano software - latency*

I'd suggest investigating https://www.pianoteq.com/. Though not free software, it's without a question (IMO) the best piano emulation available on linux. Low latency ought to be possible, though you might have to configure your system a little bit, depending on what hardware/distro you use, and the ...

Re: [SOLVED] audio crackling in duplex mode

I'm happy you got it working, and sorry for the bad advice on how to interact with pulseaudio, I know a bit about JACK though :) I don't know pulseaudio well, I just load the modules after I've started JACK1 and it works. Your case is a bit different. I just tried your solution and was amazed that a...

Re: Drop outs with zita bridge in Cadence

Can we switch computers and the monitoring setup? Alsa bridge is crackling since I use it and that happened with kxstudio 14.04 and on debian. I can't believe it's normal. But beside of the crackling the sound of the zita bridge is better. You will hear the difference with sine tones or b...

Re: audio crackling in duplex mode

I'm not sure how to stop the zita bridge after I close/stop qjackctl and jack2dbus Try adding "pkill zita-a2j; pkill zita-j2a;" to "execute script after shutdown" in qjackctl. Though thinking about it I suppose that it ought to die by itself when you kill the JACK server. My rec...
