What a great response! I lost track of this thread after posting it and rediscovered it today.
I tried to start the upgrade but the only [instructions for upgrading](http://kxstudio.linuxaudio.org/Document ... ry:Upgrade) that I've found say they work only on Ubuntu 12.04.

When I launch qjackctl, it fails with a "no such file or directory" error. The first time I installed JACK it asked me whether I wanted to give it realtime permissions. I said yes. I thought that would cause it to create an `audio` group, but I have no such group! jeff@jbb-lenovo:~$ groups...
