Re: Piano + midi in Linux???
If you're looking for the "Linux native" equivalent of Windows VSTs, you'll need to look for LV2 plugins or "Linux VST" plugins.

Re: Audio interface advice / general setup advice.
I'm planning to run Bitwig, since they actually gave me a license recently. Does anyone have experience running it on a machine of this vintage? I'm running Bitwig on a system with an intel i5-2550K, 16GB RAM, SSD HD, and AMD RX580 for graphics. I haven't noticed any performance issues. (FWIW, I'm ...

Re: multiple inputs and outputs with cadence and usb interface
If you set the number of inputs and outputs to zero I believe it will automatically set them to the max for your current settings. Also, note that some interfaces may reduce the number of ins/outs they support at different sampling rates. You can check your interface's manual to see if this might be...

Re: Pipewire called for testers. Anybody tried it out?
Bitwig is really nice, but...no lv2 support. If I had to pick one thing I'd improve on Bitwig, this would be it: native LV2 support on Linux would be great. Right now it's limited to Linux VSTs. I load LV2s with Carla. I've loaded some Windows VSTs at one time or another, but I tend to avoid that, ...

Re: Pipewire called for testers. Anybody tried it out?
having Pulseaudio installed "traditionaly" causes the weirdests problems when running jack for many people. One comom problem I remember is not beeing able to bounce a project in Ardour/Mixbus. but problems appear all the time, like this time when I had Pulse accidently installed: https:/...

Re: Jack Audio Issues when using USB Switch?
I think I understand something now. Jack should only be used if you need to do more specific audo tasks. Otherwise let Pulse run and do normal everyday work. Is this correct statement. That way you can move around and fuction easier in the desktop. Well, that's one way to approach it. It depends on...

Re: the Dominant-7 chord in major/minor keys
An M7 is the addition of the 7th note to the major triad. Right, although good to note that it's the addition of a major 7th to the major triad. Major triad + major seventh = Major 7th chord (e.g, Cmaj7, CM7, CΔ7) Major triad + minor seventh = Dominant 7th chord (e.g., C7) Minor triad + minor seven...

Re: Man with a Clan
Wow, very impressive! This is a great track, and I've added it to my Soundcloud playlist.
I agree the drums could be varied a bit more, and I might even bring the rhythm guitars up a bit relative to the drums, but I think it's a great song.

Re: Lament
I think I got the 60s vibe from the combination of guitar and whistle, emphasized by the playing style and the whole production. I think I'm reminded of some hippie-influenced music. The drums too help, with the very dead snare. I love that. Though the good low end shifts the tone towards the 70s. ...

Re: Endless (melodic synth jam)
Very nice jam. You mentioned it sounded a little cinematic, which is the vibe I get from it, too. It reminds me of Michael Nyman (especially his minimalism-style cinematic pieces). Well done!

Re: Lament
Hi @Philotomy , this is a beautiful piece. The way you produced it lends it a very late 60s air, very nice playing too. I find the viola an especially nice touch: so praise to your daughter! Thank you, Jeanette. I'll pass on the compliment to my daughter; I know she'll appreciate that. :) Interesti...

Re: Jotunheim - Playing live to backing tracks.
Very cool. I've never played a Mesa, actually. I have a Fender Blues Jr. (with a Cannabis Rex speaker replacing the stock one), a Marshall DSL40 (with a Celestion Creamback replacing the stock speaker), a Marshall SL5, and a Boss Katana 100/212.
