Re: What Linux dist could i use?¿

Properly configured, many Linux distros would be suitable. Personally, I use Arch, and am very happy with that. I like the rolling release model, I like the "configure exactly what you need -- no more and no less" aspect, and I like the excellent documentation and the availability of third...

Re: Robin Reddocke

This is really nicely done. It has a feeling of authenticity :D Thank you! "Authenticity" is a nice compliment, and I was kinda going for that (with the use of all physical/acoustic instruments). Amusingly, though, the instruments are not really "correct" for the period. Guitar ...

Re: Sharp

Hey hey, Sharp is a new melodic drum&bass track, inspired by the likes of Dimension and Wilkinson: https://youtu.be/qJoML_QdhKo Very nice; I can definitely hear the inspiration/influence in this. I am yet unsure, whether some vocals should go with it or not. I'll wait it out. :) Yes! In my opin...

Re: Robin Reddocke

Really beautiful arrangement, and you did a great work with all instruments! Thank you! I wish I could play more than just the guitar... I was given a Chinese Dizi as a gift for Christmas, though, so if I force myself to learn to play that too I could get to two :) Yes, I think you should go for it...

Re: Robin Reddocke

This is fun, it makes me want to take up playing a lute, don a leather jerkin, and organize a band of traveling minstrels. Lol... Thanks. It's definitely a bit "off the beaten path," but I enjoyed recording it. I think it's kind of cool that it's from so long ago, but here I am recording ...

Re: Power Girl

Sounds good; a very well done song. It's definitely crying out for the vocals! And I found myself wanting to hear electric guitars on the track.

Re: Robin Reddocke

This was a very enjoyable piece. Well played and well recorded. The instruments sounds nice and clean. If I had any suggestion for improvements they'd only be to personal taste. Somehow the guitar's mid highs appear a little too prominent and the frame drum is rather monotonous, though I suppose th...

Robin Reddocke

This isn't an original composition, but it's my own arrangement of a piece from the late 16th century (Ballet's Lute Book). The original lute score is arranged for classical guitar, and I added parts for alto and tenor recorders, plus a frame drum. Robin Reddocke These are all "real" instr...

Re: Drum track workflow

My normal workflow with drums is to create some basic beats and flesh out the complete song structure. As I work on and record the song, I go back through the drums and add fills, variations, changes, et cetera. I don't select from a library of MIDI beats or clips, I usually just create my own for t...

Re: Spitfire Audio LABS ?

You should be able to add the appropriate path by opening Carla, then choosing "Configure Carla", then "Paths", selecting VST2 and/or VST3, and adding the path where it should look for VSTs.

Re: Strings ensemble (native Linux)?

Have you looked into Virtual Playing Orchestra ? (From the website: "This is a full, free orchestral sample library featuring section and solo instruments for woodwinds, brass, strings and percussion.") The samples are distributed as WAVs and SFZs, so you should be able to load the SFZs in...

You can, but I don't think Carla fully supports all the sfz spec. I've had better results with sfizz. But sfz in Carla should work for some cases.

Re: Audio interface advice / general setup advice.

I was planning on using AVLinux to have everything up for audio performance, but perhaps I'll do a personal config with the help of that script. I'm also running Arch on my main laptop, and feel pretty comfortable with it now.. So it might be better to stick with what I know rather than dive in wit...
