Re: Future Linux audio hardware Interface support

If TB3 gets widespread support in the industry it will eventually be supported on Linux (unless something fishy with IP/licensing terms maybe). Then more audio devices will show up, and TB for audio on Linux *should* happen as well. The question is when ;-) Intel's push seems to be in the right dir...

Re: Focusrite Scarlett Second Generation

I can confirm what Alan said. Scarlett 6i6 2nd gen works like a charm with Debian and all music-related programs. Lovely interface, and sounds great!

Re: new GxSVT.lv2

Cannot wait to see & hear it - I used to be a bass player, and had the original SVT amp with two 8x10" cabinets, but at the moment I don't even have a bass anymore. Anyway, thanks for your work!

Re: Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 on Linux help!

Hi Gulliver, I'm really keen on Reaper, because I love it, the first DAW I actually love using. I see what you mean. Having read lots of good things about it (the best being that it will be integrated into Linux soon), I wanted to see it - so I tested it on Windows. Cool program. If I would love it ...

Re: Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 on Linux help!

Hi Gulliver, while I don't know Elementary, I use Debian since quite a while, and got back into audio, midi etc. earlier this year. There are some excellent resources to get everything going. Re: Debian-Based Linux Distributions, Compatibility, and KXStudio

Hi Grayson, had a short look onto their page, where it says: "deepin is a Linux distribution devoted to providing beautiful, easy to use, safe and reliable system for global users." Hmja, ok, I get that, it looks nice. But beside that, what's the advantage over using just plain Debian (or kxstudio f...

Re: Asus C201 as studio notebook

Hi r30, I don't know - define "music production". If you want to record a voice or a guitar with Audacity, this might be enough. But for a full-fledged DAW, together with some virtual instrument samples, plugins like eq and compressor etc. - I don't know. These things are made to save battery power,...

Re: Using Hydrogen to play DrumGizmo's DRS Kit

I think I will finish it in a week or 2.l Hey Marcel, thanks from me too - for the DRSKit conversion/mapping! Just started playing around with it, Hydrogen integration is still to be done. First I'll start trying the whiskers kit, then I'll see. Need something like a good and free acoustic bass - I...

Re: Glad I found You All

Hi Wolfgang, I also just bought a Focusrite Scarlett Solo interface. Have you used yours with Linux? Any luck? Yes - my Scarlett 6i6 2nd gen runs out of the proverbial box. No drivers needed except when/if I want to use it with Windows. So I don't. That free (as in beer) stuff under Windows can't r...

Re: Future Linux audio hardware Interface support

Shouldn't USB3 be able to at least compete with TB? No, at least not on a technical level. TB connects directly to the CPU, which USB does not. That said, my Focusrite 2nd generation runs fine on a USB3 port, tho not at the full speed that port could submit/receive. Doesn't matter much for me as lo...

Re: Minimal Ubuntu Studio 17.04 style install.

Why wouldn't you use UbuntuStudio as is? It's pretty minimalistic anyway - runs on our daughter's single core Celeron with 2GB of RAM... ok; I wouldn't even try to load the Salamander Grand piano with it, but as long as you keep things like these in mind...

Hello from Germany

Hi all, I'm relatively new here - tried to help in a few cases already, didn't ask much myself until now. My name is Wolfgang, and I'm from the Frankfurt area in Western Germany. 60 years old and an IT guy professionally, I used to be a bass player when I was (much) younger. Have been in the studios...

Re: How to anable a VSTi in QTracktor?

I've done exactly that yesterday, using the Carla-Rack as an "instrument" - and within that Carla Rack, I've loaded XLN's Addictive Keys. You can see it somewhat hidden in the background of an image in my blog post at http://wolfgang.lonien.de/2017/04/take-five-backing-track-version2/ Didn't manage ...
