Re: Is the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 2nd gen Compatable with linux?

Hi @Oldmac,

didn't try the 2i2 - but I have the 6i6 2nd gen, which runs perfectly fine. Should be the same for that smaller one.

LG,
Wolfgang

Re: Pop Album mixed in Linux

Ah cool singforme, thanks for the explanation! So the instruments (like e-piano and drums) are from Garageband? Or did you only take the midi data and used the mentioned Linux tools & plugins like the mda e-piano? I guess my main question is about the drums: are these real drums, or some from Garage...

Ah, found more at your bandcamp site - after watching the (German speaking) interview at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nig4OQKiYNg and your song at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vs21sEl6404 Wow, you're a good live act too, so congrats again Katrin, Julia, Moritz, Benjamin and to the rest of your...

Re: Pop Album mixed in Linux

Schöne Lieder, Katrin! Dabei liebe ich Dich... Ohrwurm. I also couldn't access it in Spotify, since I'm no member there. But maybe you could tell us more about the process, and Mixbus, Hydrogen, calf vintage delay and IR. Was the whole album only made with free tools (I know Mixbus isn't free as in ...

Re: Yamaha Keyboard to Ardour

Hey John, what kind of Yamaha keyboard do you have, and what do you want to hear: - the built-in sounds of your keyboard, or - just MIDI data going into Ardour, and from that into some synthesizer or sampling library (like Fluidsynth GM)? Does the interface & computer receive any MIDI data from your...

Re: What music did your parents play in the car at home etc?

Great bands you mention tnovelli. What i miss in the reactions is reggae. No one listened to Bob Marley? The Specials? Black Uhuru? Peter Tosh? UB40 in there early years? Cokane In My Brain (you know, from Dillinger) ? Well *I* certainly did - but the question was about the parents' style...

Since I'm probably a bit older than the rest here, the answer is:

Re: What guitar hardware interface for Ubuntu?

I need something compatible. That's what I meant - if my 6i6 is linux compatible, then the smaller ones most certainly are. I've seen lots of audio on linux Youtube videos where the guys were using Focusrite interfaces of all kinds. If the brochure says that you don't need a driver for a Mac, then ...

Re: What guitar hardware interface for Ubuntu?

Cannot say much about the Solo, but my Scarlett 6i6 2nd gen is class compliant, and so plug & play under Linux. Would love to hear about the same experiences with the Steinberg interface, as it is quite a bit cheaper (I'm interested in that as a possible present for my brother). For electric guitar,...

Re: Advice for a DAW under Linux (don't laugh, please!)

... ardour ain't that great with midi (? hearsay). I'm to unexperienced with other daw's (ardour just does it for me) so i can't say more than that i read everywhere that those who do productions mostly with samples and midi don't use ardour. But instead i love Ardour. Same here. I used t...

Re: Any recent DAW comparisons?

Interesting discussion here as I'm also relatively new to Linux audio... so far I like Ardour (been in real studios in my youth), and Qtractor which I find nicer for MIDI. Haven't tried any commercial ones.
