Re: Who uses jammr.net ?

The difference is jammr/wahjam is near to real-time and therefore it's much more dynamic than sharing sound files.
It's not about the result but about these moments where you really flow into the music.

Who uses jammr.net ?

Hi, is anyone here who uses https://jammr.net ? Its a program for live online jams and it works very well, even with a bad internet connection. It's a standalone application with jack support. Would be nice if someone is interested in a linuxmusicians jam, so let if me know if you would like to join...

Re: best guitar effect program

I didn't tested the last release of guitarix but the one before that and I definitely like rakarrack more. The effects its create can be very spacey and sounds more interesting to me. But I never tried to emulate a real setup consisting of an amp, cabinet, etc. Maybe in this case guitarix would be t...

Re: Some guitar recordings

Hi, thanks for your explanation.
Thing is, I don't have either a guitar amp or microphone. I'm using a normal hifi system to amplify my guitar which does not really change the sound, I guess. At the moment there is not enough money and space there to buy an amp and mic.

Re: Some guitar recordings

@ufug: Thanks for your hint, I will definitely try this plugin next time I record something. I guess this noise come from the acoustic simulation of the RP55. Unfortunately, I'm the worst singer you can imagine, but if I will find someone who are interested in putting some lyrics on top it would be ...

Re: Some guitar recordings

Hey, thanks for your kind words. @folderol: Looks interesting, when I'm not at holidays I'll give it a try. @42low: Nothing special, just plugging the guitar into the line-in jack of my onboard sound card. Sometimes I use a Digitech RP55 for effects and as a preamp. The only thing you should care ab...

Some guitar recordings

Hi, I want to show you some of my guitar recordings. I used the following software: - Ardour for recording - Sometimes Hydrogen for drums - Sometimes rakarrack for realtime effects Would be nice if you could leave some feedback. I always have an open ear for suggestions to improve. https://soundclou...

Headset Jack does not record

Hi, on my laptop I have a combination audio jack with a headset symbol beside. So I guess it should be possible to record via this jack. Audio output works well, but if I connect a mic or my guitar, I cannot record anything. I tried it with ardour and audacity, in alsa and and in jack mode. I tried ...

[jack] sync application to master

Hi, I'm wondering about the correct way of keeping my application in sync with a timebase master application. Let's say I have Hydrogen running in master mode and I want to print a message on every 1/4 note Hydrogen is playing. This is what I would do intuitive (using python): #!/usr/bin/env python3...

Re: USB guitar cable + Jack on the Pi

The whole problem was caused by the usage of alsa_in.
I now have a simple usb-soundcard (cmedia chip, too) with mic input and speaker output using both as default. Now I get the same clear sound as by the x86 pc with -p 128 -n 3

Re: USB guitar cable + Jack on the Pi

I've got a good improvement by self-compiling jack-1.9.8 (used 1.9.10 before) and applying the autostatic patch (little modifications needed).
Quality is not as good as at the pc, but the volume is on a good level now, there are no buzzes and less noise.
All in all quite acceptable.

Re: USB guitar cable + Jack on the Pi

Hi,
thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, these settings are working very bad for me, guitar sounds like a robot.
Yes, I'm using the C-Media chip.
I'm wondering why the device is working well on a non-arm pc (and good enough on arm with pure alsa). So I guess, there have to be an issue with jack?

USB guitar cable + Jack on the Pi

Hi, I have a cheap USB guitar cable like this one http://img.dxcdn.com/productimages/sku_35879_1.jpg It works very well on my x86 pc and laptop but connected to the Pi, the sound is very weak (low amplitude) and stuttering if I'm using Jackd. If I only record the sound via arecord (no jack involved)...

DrumMaschine without GUI

Hi @ all, I'm looking for a drum maschine which - can run without X - supports Jack - in best case it's controllable via MIDI events Is there any way to run Hydrogen without X? I just want to play a pre created song and adjust bpm and volume via MIDI. If not, is there any other software which can do...
