Re: Why VST??

The lsp plugins generate a gtk error and I don't know what is causing that. If you have the text of an error, you may submit it to me. I think it's REAPER-relative problem and seems to be fixable. I tried a lsp plugin in a vst mini host and in Jost and I get a bad window error in both of them. ./vs...

Re: Why VST??

I can get just about all of the vst plugins that come standard with AV Linux loaded into Reaper Linux with a UI. The exceptions are u-he and the lsp plugins. The u-he plugins seem to have a thread bug that hits at random, and some hosts will cope with it better than others but Reaper and my Wrapper ...

Re: Linux REAPER works!

Just installed Linux Reaper the other day. Have used Win Reaper and Wine Reaper for years. Am I missing something or is there something special you have to do for Reaper to even see VST plugins? When I add my VST folder and/or make a new one, it doesn't seem to find them. It deals with native Linux...

Re: Why VST??

An advice for the Window open/close problem: In reapers VST preferences select the option "Default VST to generic UI" In your code define a variable bool ignoreEffEditGetRect = false; then: if (reaper calls effEditGetRect ) { // this is done when the gui button is pressed first time if (!...

Re: Why VST??

If it does so then thats a bummer. You could ask Justin to stop the periodic calls for the Linux version. The other thing you could do is to use the workaround i use for the external UI extension: Tell the host that your plugin does not have an editor, using the vstflags. Add one extra parameter to...

Re: Why VST??

Reaper Linux seems to call effEditGetRect multiple times the windows version of reaper calls effeditgetrect around 5 times per second, by design.. and if the size is different than the already opened editor, reaper will automatically resize the plugin (parent) window.. Thanks, that explains what's ...

Re: Why VST??

I don't understand what's funny here? That LOL is sarcastic. You don't know the history of my fight for an external UI extension for VST. The simple idea (also used by Linuxsampler) is to completely separate the GUI code into its own application. Therefor once and for all solving the problem of dif...

Re: Linux REAPER works!

Pros and Cons of Reaper Linux as it currently stands. Pros: All of the Linux vst's I've tried seem to work. All of the Reaper builtin plugins seem to work. Pretty stable. Reaper Linux has it's multiple tracks (not limited to 2 ins and 2 outs) appearing as Jack connections, so anything can be routed ...

Re: Linux REAPER works!

There is a Drumgizmo Muldjord v2 Reaper template that uses Reaper tracks instead of the Drumgizmo plugin at http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=140544 The paths are fixed and are windows paths but redirecting Reaper Linux to the Muldjord Linux paths and enabling the Search autosearch option (On...

Re: Linux REAPER works!

I've written a pretty rough and basic u-he h2p preset to vst fxp preset batch converter for Podolski and Zebralette that seems to work. I might do it for some others as well. I've managed to batch convert all of the standard h2p presets in a couple of minutes for Podolski and Zebralette. It should w...

Re: Linux REAPER works!

Since when did Linux-native REAPER start working? It's certainly not finished but you can already record with the native Linux version of REAPER. The main issue as it stands is that it seems you are restricted to the plugins that are bundled with REAPER, or at least I have had no success in getting...

Drumgizmo vst and Tracktion

The Drumgizmo vst had some problems with a JUCE bug and so it was not usable with Tracktion. The latest Drumgizmo git code has a fix for it and the Drumgizmo vst now works with Tracktion. How to deal with multiple outs from drums in Tracktion (the various hardwired Drumgizmo drumkit outputs are list...

Re: will there be a 16-output carla-vst?

Thanks for the info - I was disappointed when I couldn't get the vst to work in Tracktion 7. Time to look into that again :) The Drumgizmo vst used to just sit there in Tracktion and do nothing because the browse buttons wouldn't work, but it's ok now. The changes are in the latest Drumgizmo git so...

Re: will there be a 16-output carla-vst?

I suppose I'm mainly thinking of drumgizmo, which I suppose counts as a synth. I use Tracktion mostly, and I'm not sure it really matters as I'd be using a multi-out carla in one of their racks to make it really useful in Tracktion, so I would just be connecting audio outputs from carla to the audi...
