That's right. Everything in the latest version was possible with the existing samples. So if you have at least version 2.0, just an sfz upgrade is needed to have version 2.3Lyberta wrote:So it's just SFZ changes right?

(free) xfaded brass for Virtual Playing Orchestra
NOTE: unfortunately it has been determined that the dynamic cross faded patches (-DXF in standard library and -PERF in the performance library) will not work with LinuxSampler, UNLESS (according to khaines) you replace all "gain_cc1" instances with "volume_oncc1" in the .sfz fil...

Re: Magenta NSynth
I'm curious about it, but the .wav samples download for the "training set", is 22G. I'd like to know more about the contents of that download and the quality of the samples before I bother downloading it. I'm wondering if there is anything "orchestra sample library" worthy in the...

Re: (free) 2.2 Virtual Playing Orchestra
SFZ is a much more advanced format, supporting things like round robin samples, key switches, cross-fading, use of arbitrary midi cc events (example: mod wheel control). SF2 has velocity mapping and key mapping, and not much else. I was once asked if I would provide a .sf2 version of Virtual Playin...

Re: (free) 2.2 Virtual Playing Orchestra
Hi Paul, one question: is it possible to play each instrument of the orchestra inside Ardour? I don't know anything about about Ardour, but based on what Michael said, it looks like you need the .sf2 format rather than the .sfz format which is the format of Virtual Playing Orchestra, and the origin...

Re: (free) 2.2 Virtual Playing Orchestra
Can you make samples share the directory with sfz file? There are a few reasons why I wanted to keep the .sfz files separate from the .wav files, but if you want to try to merge them you certainly can. After you bring the files together, edit the .sfz files to change the path to the .wav files. All...

Re: (free) 2.2 Virtual Playing Orchestra
I've created a patch to fix the violin problem and re-do some fine tuning of pitch, volume and panning that unfortunately went missing with version 2.0.

Re: (free) 2.0 Virtual Playing Orchestra
I believe I've discovered the cause of the missing E in 1st solo violins and others. In the 1st-violin-SOLO-sustain.sfz file, try changing this: 4_F-PB.wav lokey=64 key=65 to this 4_F-PB.wav key=65 lokey=64 I thought it was a Linux issue but it seems to be an sfz implementation issue. The sfz player...

Re: (free) 2.0 Virtual Playing Orchestra
What about F4? The same sample should be used to play both notes.
Just to be clear, we're talking about the lowest E right?

Re: (free) 2.0 Virtual Playing Orchestra
maybe not the place to mention bugs, but note E4 is missing in the 1st-violin-SOLO-mod-wheel.sfz and the 1st-violin-SOLO-sustain.sfz file. Anywhere I might see it is a good place to mention bugs but I don't understand. Just now, I was able to play every note in the SOLO and SEC patches for 1st viol...

Re: Virtual Playing Orchestra
You can easily determine the "actual license" of any NBO instrument just by looking at the license.txt file in the instrument's folder. The same should be true of the Virtual Playing Orchestra library. I've preserved the NBO license.txt files and done the same (or tried to) for the other ...

Re: Virtual Playing Orchestra
Nope, you are making a derivative work of the samples and you have to obey the license of them. For example, if some samples are NC then you can't make commercial music with them. In Bridgeport Music, Inc. v. Dimension Films it was determined that even sampling a 2 second guitar chord without permi...

Re: Soloing strategies
When faced with a similar challenge, I might start with something similar to the main melody, or I'll add passing notes to the chord progression or arpeggiate the chords. I may play that section over and over again, looking for new ideas, different ways to play it, different notes to change. Once I ...
