Re: Midisport Firmware installed now what?

There are many possibilities under GNU/Linux with all its advantages and disadvantages, so no idea. :-) Read what is in my signature times through - there I tried to collect EVERYTHING because I myself also much not overview / can remember - as well as the advice of other users e.g. here in the foru...

Re: Midisport Firmware installed now what?

Is a2jmidid installed?
If not install a2jmidid, it will merge ALSA and jack MIDI. (If it is not installed you will only see jack MIDI).

In qjackctl setup:
Setup >> Options > [X] Run script after startup: "sleep 5 && a2jmidid -e &"

Re: Syncing Jack MIDI clock with external sequencer

As far as I understand jackd does not send MIDI clock. The host / DAW reliably sends/receives the MIDI clock/messages, not jackd. You need to define one of them (software/hardware sequencer) as master and the other as slave and connect them via qjackctl or the host / DAW virtually. Once this is done...

A warm welcome to you. :-D
Regarding information, read the 2 links in my signature across, there is a lot.
And ask specific questions here, there are many nice people with different knowledge and musical influences who are happy to help if they can and have time.

Very good and I, a user, had thought so too. A developer like you, for example, has more in-depth knowledge and because of that can answer confidently and universally provable. Thanks!

Re: RME AIO Pro

Hdspconf does not work with the AIO and possibly not for the Pro, for the setting you take the alsamixer. You can also contact the ALSA RME developer (Adrian) directly: https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=fbcdf3343bc8a1272092cf6d164516b76505708b , https://gi...

Re: [SOLVED] RME AIO

:-) Further testing and possible fault isolations are very good. I have very little idea of the technical background of Linux & MIDI - have also already unsuccessfully tested quite a few possibilities - that's why I opened the 2 threads: RT MIDI >> https://linuxmusicians.com/viewtopic.php?p=9968...

Re: jackd - MIDI clock and MIDI 2.0

True, the host/DAW reliably sends/receives the MIDI clock/messages, not jackd.
Are the MIDI messages transmitted by jackd with the same timing accuracy (RT) as audio?

Will ALSA/jackd support MIDI 2.0 in the future?

# I am not a developer and know very little technically, hence these questions.

Re: [SOLVED] RME AIO

Sharing knowledge is more than desired. With ADAT you can run all 8 inputs / 8 outputs simultaneously, this works 100%. All extensions work 100% reliable, you can use all 18 inputs / 20 outputs at the same time. With MIDI I have the same problem https://linuxmusicians.com/viewtopic.php?p=99715#p9971...
