Re: for a friend and his hobby

Btw. Mastering is the part i mostly have to learn, as you can hear. And this will take lot's of time cause this is the most new part for me. It's not that easy nor straightforward to try to get the max of amplitude of a the mix without sounding distorted. If that's a goal, of course. I still...

Re: Three short tests (was: Two short tests)

Good stuff. Two thumbs up from me. You have some good drones, make sure you keep them happy. What exactly is a drone in this musical context? Thanks. Yeah, these drones would not even be worthy to be stolen by China ! Even 70 is not using a drone per se, but rather a droning pattern of sorts. OTOH,...

Re: Three short tests (was: Two short tests)

For 71 I took a short bit from the excellent "Song in my Head" by Martha and the Muffins (1) and since I could not clean it up so much to only keep vocals, I decided to add more noise :) And this, as the other tests, was done quickly. So yeah, much noise. (1) https://www.youtube.com/watch?...

Re: for a friend and his hobby

IMHO you are out on creative territory. This means you can make it sound like you like, really. You are not limited by standards at all. You can make the voice as much in the background as you'd like, the guitar as much front, as well as the drums. Alles gut. I'd say warmer drums would be welcomed. ...

Re: Original orchestral piece

So far I got the first 22 measures sequenced (in Muse), played by the No Budget Orchestra. Here's that excerpt. Can you describe how this is done in Muse ? Is there any sampler instrument used ? I tried loading some NBO sfz in Redux with not much results. Are each wav file positioned in Muse and ta...

Re: [braindance] ambicumber - antacid #1111

It's a nice track. Wouldn't be a fan of too much synth percussions, although the blend here is all right in many parts (question of taste, subjective). It seems at times that there's a somewhat empty space between the bass and the high percussions. Maybe this space could be used to glue things toget...

Three short tests (was: Two short tests)

Howdy, Two short 'tests' made around drones and noises. One much more so than the other actually. And then they were three. And the latest, jam72, could have been called '5:30AM'. https://soundcloud.com/nominal6/test-jam72 https://soundcloud.com/nominal6/test-jam70 https://soundcloud.com/nominal6/te...

Repro-1

Disclaimer: It says 'Linux News' and not necessarily 'Linux Open Source Software Only' So, with this in mind... u-he is a German synth/audio plugin maker that does cater to Linux in its offerings. Not many do. Not at all. IMHO it is news when something new happens also on that front. u-he also have ...

Re: Do you listen to your own music?

Although none of the vote options is totaly true, the ignorable times i listen i enjoy my song, so option 2. Option 2 from the bottom or from the top ? :P For me, none of the answers apply. Because none are technical. You've got to listen to your stuff in the kitchen, in the car, at work (headphone...

Re: Ability to create a sonic universe

The difference you bring between listening capability and extending the frequency range is interesting. Listening discernment stays within a frequency range that's already heard and, as I\ve experienced, can be cultivated. Today, a few months after starting the mixing course, I'm amazed at the diffe...

Re: Ability to create a sonic universe

Thanks for our comments. 'steamroller' of online distribution services/stores: yes, the audio files are processed. There are mastering ways to deal with this although I haven't looked at them yet. Same for commercial radio. But then, I was thinking more of the non-pop material which will never play ...

Re: NEW SITE: Makam Music – Beauty and Diversity (with audio collection)

As a sidenote, makes me think of gamelan orchestra which are actually tuning to each other member in the orchestra, making each orchestra unique.

In general it means, why do we feel compelled to stick to the scale we have learned since childhood ?

Cheers.

Aquaterra

Hello, In contrast to the last few pieces, Aquaterra is rather laid back. It's a smooth travel from water to land and back to water. The sonic 'waves' could be representing water waves or perhaps whales. This one brings back acoustic guitar in the sonic palette. Since we know an autistic child who l...

Ability to create a sonic universe

Just a thought. From a practical point of view, playing a CD could mean adjusting the volume. If not bass and treble. This means that there is a capability to create a sound atmosphere for a whole CD since all tracks would be mastered the same. With all this online stuff and buying single songs. one...
