I just checked Ardour 6.5 with DG 0.9.19 compiled under Manjaro (which is also rolling release) and at least loading the GUI works without any issues and nothing hangs.

I just tested Waveform 11 running under Arch Linux and it works without issues with the vst version of DrumGizmo. I loaded a drum kit and played some notes and it was fine.

The issue with that approach (meaning, somehow matching up the different kits) is that it might heavily compromise on quality and that's basically the one thing we are not willing to compromise on.
