Re: Drum machine with patterns?

Well apparently I uploaded the wrong sources to SourceForge. I just redid the git push. But no sense downloading the whole thing just for sources, so I uploaded a zip for you: Apparently, you're running an old 32-bit OS? I'm running Ubuntu 14.04, 64bit. git pull & make did the trick, but then I...

Re: Drum machine with patterns?

This is an article I wrote YEARS ago, but it goes through the basics of constructing beats: http://www.alandmoore.com/blog/the-theory-of-drum-programming/ Starts with not so promising for me 'not as much towards styles such as heavy rock'. Ok, but I give it a chance some day. Studying something new...

More than a drum machine, you may be interested in my auto-arranger software - BackupBand: https://sourceforge.net/p/backupband/code/ci/master/tree/ click on "Download snapshot". Unzip and read Docs/backupband.htm Checked out git. No build instructions, tried run make. Added apparent miss...

It's Windows software, but runs fine through Carla. It takes MIDI input from any sequencer if you want, or you can just play along one of the many, many pre-recorded beats.

Carla loaded it, but GUI does not work (getting empty black window). :-(

More than a drum machine, you may be interested in my auto-arranger software - BackupBand: https://sourceforge.net/p/backupband/code/ci/master/tree/ Nice idea. Unfortunately, I play guitar, so that does not match for me. Mostly I would need 'drum machine' for just playing rehearsal. Put some beat r...

Drum machine with patterns?

Hi! Is there some 'drum machine' software available which would include also patterns? I have Digitech guitar effect which has 'ok for me' beats, but I'd like to have something similar as linux software. Hydrogen is fine software, but all the beats I create are lousy. Haven't found many beats for it...

Re: USB audio interface for guitar recording/effects

I have Alesis IO2, works with linux, and sound is ok. I started plugging my guitar to it, and used guitarix. Now I have Digitech multieffect for sounds, and IO2 used for recording only.

Re: Windows midi-morphing VST in Carla / some other?

Tried 'Harmony Rotator' linked in first message, http://www.vst4free.com/free_vst.php?plugin=Harmony_Rotator&id=1556 Basicly, that takes midi in, and should sen midi out. I see 'light' blinking that carla thinks that VST is getting midi, but nothing more happens. I routed midi from Carla to qmid...

Re: Windows midi-morphing VST in Carla / some other?

Has anyone any hints on this, would it be possible to use some Windows VST in Carla which is generating midi? Where to output that, to same Carla or to some other program, that is not so much relevant.

Windows midi-morphing VST in Carla / some other?

Hi! I was browsing free VST, and found interesting midi-plugins. Midi in, some other midi out. For example: http://www.vst4free.com/free_vst.php?plugin=Harmony_Rotator&id=1556 Is it me who can't use Carla properly, or is there some problem using such VST in Carla? I could see plugin getting midi...

Re: Sample based synth with pitch change, playing samples in original velocity

so I think your only option is to use rubberband or similar to do a (time preserving) pitch shift to generate all the notes you want offline, then you can put them into a SFZ or make an sf2 with swami or whatever. Yes, that's most likely the situation. Remaining question is, what would be command-l...

Re: Sample based synth with pitch change, playing samples in original velocity

have some samples which are oscilating type, and having same tempo on that oscilation in any key played is important. So you want a player that does "pitch shifting" to transpose the pitch, and then "time stretching" to restore the original tempo (and ideally the timbre/tone). F...

Re: Sample based synth with pitch change, playing samples in original velocity

He could manually create pitch-shifted samples for every key in a SFZ, of course. Cut'n'paste, cut'n'paste... :) If you think that's a lot of work try building a keyboard. Naah, writing script doing it is not bad job, specially if SFZ is text-based format. Petri-foo save format is also text, so tha...

Re: Sample based synth with pitch change, playing samples in original velocity

Sounds like writing an SFZ might work. Give it a try with just mapping one or two samples to test. Its not too hard to write your own just looking at some examples. There are lots of examples here: http://www.bandshed.net/sounds/sfz/ and here's one I wrote (the text file is at the bottom of the pos...
