Unfortunatley I have never heard anything yet unless via the Yoshimi Virtual Keyboard. Will investigate further as my "Jack" settings must be up the swanee!

Thanks for all the advice.
I have tested Qsynth with my roland VR09 (which appears in Jack connections) and it was just about useable (slight latency - 5.8ms showing)
However connecting to amsynth or Yoshimi was flummoxing me somewhat which I don't understand.!

I like the look of Yoshimi .
BTW ,What is the difference between Yoshimi and Zynaddsubfx?

Guys, First of all thanks for the info and encouragement! I have managed to have some success with Qsynth and Yoshimi. As mentioned by folderol , Yoshimi seemed happy to run having first started Jack. Qsynth seemed to be a basic GM set as soundfonts? Yoshimi seemed to be more of a Traditional S&...
