Re: Can't take ownership of exFAT HDD's as root

I formatted one of the drives back to exFAT to test the following suggestions.. Instead of using mount with those options (or less as it works well with less) as root, simply use pmount as a simple user for your removable devices : pmount /dev/sde1 And that's it. It will even create a mount point fo...

Re: BackupBand 0.D

Ok. That got it working once I used those samples and ran jack at 48khz instead. I'll just do it that way. Thanks dude! I'll have a little jam with this later tonight :)

Re: Hello, Zrythm developer here

Please remember that it's still unreleased so a lot of things are not working yet. But those you mentioned should be kinda working at the moment. You should install the deb file mentioned in the README manually. That's always the latest version and getting updated multiple times a day (since zrythm...

Re: BackupBand 0.D

That's ok. But just so I know, the user error was me extracting these files somewhere other than the home folder, right? If so, you should probably make it clearer in the instructions that this is a necessary step for it to work properly  That said, I tried re-doing the install in the home fol...

Re: Saturation

80-90 home studio was 4 track recorder with C-cassette. If you wan you can get them still from ebay :-) Yeh that'd be a bit too basic. I'm thinking more like lots of hardware EQ's, compressors, reverbs, mixing console, tape machines etc! I'ts a dream.. Anyway, I think we're derailing this thread a ...

Re: BackupBand 0.D

You didn't download "update_0D.zip", right? That's only for upgrading from 0.C. If you unzip the instruments_44k.zip it should create an "Instruments" folder inside of "Home/BackupBand". Inside "Instruments" should be another folder "44khz". Inside ...

Re: Hello, Zrythm developer here

Ooh nice. Another Linux DAW for me to try, with LV2 support too :D Never heard of this one before. I just installed it via the apt instructions and everything seemed to go ok. But when I open the program, I can't maximise the window or get the preferences menu to open (or any other menu options work...

Re: Saturation

Ha! If you have vocal cords, you have analogue gear. What's more FOSS than making the air vibrate? It's easy to forget that there was music before computers. Sometimes I will spend forever trying to make something happen with plugins and then remember it might be easier to make the sound the...

Re: Saturation

This--I was going to recommend the Calf Tape Simulator in addition to their saturation plugin. If you are looking for tube saturation, also consider doing this non-digitally. I've been using an Art Tube MP mic pre for 20+ years. You can get the older ones (not the V3) for under $20 used, and you ca...

That last version of Winamp is still the best media player ever made in my opinion!

But yeh, Zebra can do quite a lot. I'm enjoying it :)

Re: BackupBand 0.D

Yeh. I admit, I was ignorant to this kind of software haha. Anyway, I downloaded it. When I unzipped the 'instruments' and 'extra' files, no files appeared. I tried again and then I got message saying that the files '28.cmp' & '3_A.cmp' already exist in this location. I've got 'view hidden files...

Re: Saturation

Calf Saturator. It's a fixed part of my master bus as well as on quite a lot of tracks (as you can see in my videos [1]). It makes drums punchier, warms certain instruments (piano, strings, synths), can be used to tame extreme transients, enriches the harmonics and reduces "digital cold"....

Re: There's a lack of Qtractor video tutorials..

Thanks for responding to me. I'm not sure if I've bugged you a bit with my requests. Maybe you've just heard these suggestions before and are tired of them by now  But I just want to say that I really appreciate your work. I hope you understand my intentions with these suggestions. If I stick ...

This looks interesting for jam sessions/improvisation! I've never even heard of a program that can do something like this. I'll have to give it a go! Thanks :)

Re: Can't take ownership of exFAT HDD's as root

I'm really enjoying the low key, passive aggressive nature of this thread  But honestly, I appreciate you guys helping me! As for the issue, I tried formatting the drives to ext4 which allowed me ownership of them, then when I formatted them back to exFAT, root took ownership again and I couldn...
