Re: Kontakt player decided to stop working on me...

Pacman's log is located at /var/log/pacman.log I was just looking through the log and I was thinking, you're saying the issues started around the 26th last month. The last updates I had were on the 25th. Add to that the fact that Manjaro tends to be about a week behind Arch on its updates (apparent...

Re: Kontakt player decided to stop working on me...

I only know what some of those things are. But yeh, I can see why you suspected Systemd. Where did you find those Pacman update logs? It'd be good to compare and see if anything stands out. I've spent most of my time on Debian/Ubuntu based distros so I still haven't learned the Pacman commands yet, ...

Re: Kontakt player decided to stop working on me...

Interesting to know I'm not alone in having odd issues. That got me thinking if it's not the kernel or wine version maybe it's a systemd issue? Tried a few older versions of systemd and related deps but that didn't affect it at all. Yeh I'm not sure. I've been experiencing this issue for about a fe...

Re: Kontakt player decided to stop working on me...

I'm on the Arch based Manjaro and FL Studio recently stopped working on me. As far as I know, it's not a Kernel or Wine version issue. Anyway, I read your thread as I was making my one. I think it's possible we may both be victim to the same issue. Maybe between our two threads we can figure it out....

FL Studio stopped working on Manjaro

Update 1: Ok. For anyone who stumbles across this thread or is just interested, it looks like this one got solved to some extent. It requires a workaround, but it's very simple! I've been trying to run FLS via PlayOnLinux and Lutris. All you have to do with either of these programs is launch FLS as...

Re: How do you choose your music distributor - e.g. CD Baby, DistroKid, TuneCore?

Hmm. Maybe it's just something the distributor I use for Soundcloud monetisation does then. I don't really like them TBH. If they don't actually need that level of access (which never made sense to me anyway), then I like them a lot less. I haven't heard of Tully, but if you use them, please let us ...

Re: I messed up my WINE

Not sure if this is of much use to you for future situations like this, but I've been using a program called "Timeshift" and it's been amazing for saving me a load of hassle in these situations. It's similar to system restore on Windows if you're familiar with that.

Re: Microphone recommendations for speech

Cool post, j_e_f_f_g. I enjoyed reading that. Seems that no one is afraid to recommend the SM58, budget choice or not. That's why I had to mention it. I've used one on my setup before and I felt it might've had slightly more top than my SM57. I didn't do a proper test though, just felt that way.. An...

Re: PulseAudio issues on Mint 19.1

Sorry to double post but it looks like that did the trick. Was able to plugin the 2i4 before logging in, and when I logged in, Jack had auto-started as it was supposed to and my sound worked right away with Jack sink as the audio device. I love it when a fix is that simple! Made my day :D Thanks for...

Re: PulseAudio issues on Mint 19.1

Try pulseaudio --start to start it. Do you have pulse audio volume control installed? There you can choose the audio device. Are you maybe missing pulseaudio-module-jack ? Ok. I tried starting it that way in both scenarios again and everything's the same. I just didn't get terminal error messages t...

Re: Microphone recommendations for speech

A lot of people will recommend condenser mics for this. I bought the Rode NT1 for this purpose, and while it sounds very 'true to life' and has the proximity effect, I found it to be wayyyy too sensitive for use at home. You need a decent room and a very quiet location to use a condenser. You can ge...

[SOLVED] PulseAudio issues on Mint 19.1

Hey all. I did a fresh install of Linux Mint 19.1 (Cinnamon) the other day and have been having some issues with the audio so am hoping you can help me out here.. When I boot the computer up, it appears as though pulseaudio hasn't started as there are no audio devices. If I plug in my Focusrite 2i4 ...

Re: Has anyone tried the hardware iLok USB device with linux?

Seems like they are talking about a crypt32.dll override and that dll seems to have 32bit and 64bit versions so they would need to go into syswow64 for 32bit and system32 for 64bit and then added in the Libraries tab in winecfg. There are also different versions, so some might work better than othe...

Re: Has anyone tried the hardware iLok USB device with linux?

I've tried getting an offline reg to work, but the text-entry area where their code should appear is blank. I should ask them if they will allow a reg in some other chain of actions. Thanks for sharing your experiences and common sense with regard to izotope products. Such tools have their place an...

Re: Has anyone tried the hardware iLok USB device with linux?

Yeh good luck with it. I'd be interested to hear of your results because maybe the iLok way works.. I just never bought one of them because it just seems like a glorified, overpriced USB drive as far as I can tell. I'd rather they just sell us a license to the iLok software for cheaper and let us pu...
