Re: Has anyone tried the hardware iLok USB device with linux?

I've tried getting an offline reg to work, but the text-entry area where their code should appear is blank. I should ask them if they will allow a reg in some other chain of actions. Thanks for sharing your experiences and common sense with regard to izotope products. Such tools have their place an...

Re: Has anyone tried the hardware iLok USB device with linux?

Yeh good luck with it. I'd be interested to hear of your results because maybe the iLok way works.. I just never bought one of them because it just seems like a glorified, overpriced USB drive as far as I can tell. I'd rather they just sell us a license to the iLok software for cheaper and let us pu...

Re: Has anyone tried the hardware iLok USB device with linux?

I haven't. Never owned an iLok. But the reason I'm replying is to say that you don't need one for iZotope plugins. I have a bunch of them and I activate them without an iLok. However, I can't get mine activated on Linux via Wine. I sent some debug info to iZotope and am hoping they figure out how to...

Re: Another IT/hobby-musician type

Welcome. I'm an IT person too (not professionally), but only really as a byproduct of being a gamer for years. And now as a Linux user, it's pushing me to learn more than I ever intended. I'd love it if someone paid me for all the bloody troubleshooting I do.. Thinking about it, I'm guessing t...

Re: Anyone used Pop!_OS ?

Thanks guys. I feel a little bit schooled (in a good way) which makes me rethink things. I said something similar to this in a earlier post, but I feel like supporting and using upstream projects like Ubuntu is generally a better idea (for various reasons) than going for any of the derivatives, unle...

Re: Make Linux fast again

In terms of having a stable, reliable system development drivers are more of a risk than disabling meltdown/spectre mitigations. I read that Intel wanted the mitigations to be 'opt-in'. The Linux kernel would be distributed without the performance hit to Intel hardware, and if you were a government...

Re: Anyone used Pop!_OS ?

So many hard assess on this forum eh.. I get it though. There are so many distros (or whatever you wanna call them. I probably am using the term too liberally.) that barely do anything differently and it's kinda ridiculous and kinda unhelpful to Linux as whole at times. I agree! But System76 s...

Ah yeh I get it now after looking up and running the command you ran. I appear to be ok with my system. Not gonna try disabling those mitigations though haha

Oh I meant the command in the first post :P

Re: Anyone used Pop!_OS ?

I ended up just diving straight in and giving it a go, completely sacrificing my Mint install which I've spent months tweaking and making nice and functional :o But to be honest, I'm digging it so far! I had to install gnome-tweaks because I couldn't stand the overview focused behaviour of the GUI. ...

Anyone used Pop!_OS ?

Mint is pretty cool but I'm getting the urge to try out a new distro. I'm liking the sound of (the Ubuntu based) Pop!_OS. Apparently they do a lot of kernel and driver bug fixing to issues that exist in stock Ubuntu releases. Kernel & GPU driver stability issues are the bane of my existence on L...

Re: Cool guys in the marketplace

Did I miss something here? Every conversation on the net... Someone always has to find an issue... Try to give some recognition to some people doing good and someone will find the bad in it, somehow... As for a person I would mention - Eric Persing from Spectrasonics. Dude just has a fun, enthusiast...
