Small world - I'm quite a 'bit' further south in Chatham ![]()
As mentioned you need either a synth of some sort, or a MIDI connected hardware unit. On choice of synth I'm known to be quite biased for some reason ![]()
Incidentally, Rosegarden is also my choice of sequencer.

Re: Continuing the jack/pipewire debate...
Does anyone know if pipewire supports jack_session?
This is now marked as deprecated, yet I know of several people who use it precisely because it is very simple and lightweight.

Re: KVR December competition
There hasn't been a closing date set yet (nor even a submissions thread) but it usually runs until close to the end of the month - with Christmas near the end that might mess it up and shorten the time a bit.

So come on folks. It's getting very lonely being the only Linux musician contributing.

I wonder if you've somehow managed to get ownership but not write permission.

Congrats to the team.
I'll wait for this to appear in debian, then try it out on my laptop.

Have you reported this to the Rosegarden devs? They are usually very supportive.

Re: Rosegarden 21.12 Crashes
There is something extremely screwy there. You should definitely NOT run Rosegarden as root. I 've been running it for years with no such issues (currently under devuan). It sounds like something has the wrong user type.

Re: Hello from Germany / Frankurt
Hi, and welcome.
I run devuan for similar reasons, although I work almost entirely 'in' the box, with just hardware keyboard and controllers.
