Re: Blindness and FLOSS music-making

Yes it is. She's trying to join but is having problems with the captcha - hopefully it will be sorted out soon. {edit} Command length is one of the things we've really gone to town on. as an example, at start up the terminal will report something like: Yoshimi 1.7.1 M Clientname: yoshimi Audio: jack...

Re: Blindness and FLOSS music-making

I don't know much about either Nama or Ecasound. I'll refer her to this thread.

Back to 1993

This was originally composed using a Yamaha SY22 and Mk1 Roland Soundcanvas with an Acorn Archimedes computer. I've now transferred the MIDI file to Rosegarden then set up Yoshimi and basically rebuilt it, but with a better range of sounds, and also some new backing and counter melodies. I've upload...

Enjoyed both of these, but 'Dreams' is my preference. I'm by no means a mix engineer, but nevertheless everything sounded just fine to me.

Hmmm. Don't remember this. Like it anyway.
Like the TV playing a scratched film effects too. Mind you I'm old enough to remember the ones with a 9in tube you needed to watch in a darkened room

Re: The importance of designer presets in libre synths

Yoshimi has it's presets (i.e. Instruments) laid out in digestible sized banks, that themselves are in bank roots. The entire structure was designed to be immediately compatible with MIDI bank changes. Also, at a glance you can tell which instrument 'engines' have been used. The user can rearrange t...

[ANN] Yoshimi V 1.7.1

Just released this morning :) In brief: One instantly noticeable feature is a new 'Pan Law' entry in the main window. There is a new channel based setting for Solo. Another quite new development is both Channel and Key aftertouch. Legato performance has been improved and made smoother. There is a ne...
