Re: vember audio surge is now opensource

I got it working with the VCV Rack VST Host module. However, when the tempo clock - the sequencer speed - is increased the sound goes to hell. At lower tempi everything sounds great ... This problem is gone with the latest build from git sources. It works very well in Rack regardless of tempo. Stil...

Re: vember audio surge is now opensource

Dave, I just tried it in carla and it was just a case of adding it and connecting a keyboard, no special set up. All works normally for me. Perhaps it's a samplerate problem? Running 44.1 here. I got it working with the VCV Rack VST Host module. However, when the tempo clock - the sequencer speed -...

Re: vember audio surge is now opensource

Greetings,

Btw, if anyone has sound coming from it maybe they can tell me how ? All I get is a clicking noise when running it in Carla. What am I missing ?

Best,

Re: The full moon >> ZynAddSubFX

Lovely work !

Major kudos also to the devs of ZynAddSubFX (used so nicely in your piece) and Yoshimi. Top synths for Linux musicians.

Best,

Re: vember audio surge is now opensource

Greetings, Considerable work has been done on the Linux version of this project. Here's a look at what's been achieved so far, as displayed in a plugin test program: http://linux-sound.org/images/surge4linux.png I haven't got sound from it yet. It won't instantiate in Bitwig in either VST3 or VST2, ...

Re: Strings & Arpeggio (an exercise with VCV Rack)

Cool stuff! Thank you very much. :) The synthesizer looks quite advanced. I also downloaded it, inspired by your track, but I don’t think that I will soon learn how to use it fully. I began as a complete newbie, I suppose I might qualify as an advanced newbie after a year+ working with it. As jonet...

Re: Remix time

Hey Will,

I liked it on KVR, I like it here. A great favorite at Studio D.

Must be a train thing. :)

Re: Strings & Arpeggio (an exercise with VCV Rack)

The loss would be in the predictability of the performance, the Rack patch includes randomizing elements that might be very hard to recreate in BWS. In what way does the VCV rack contributes to unpredictable happenings in that music ? Arpeggio direction, length, and pattern are all controlled by a ...

I'm old enough to remember this one when it came out. One the DC5's best songs.

Major props to the girls for their performance. I enjoyed this quite a lot, everything about it.

Re: Strings & Arpeggio (an exercise with VCV Rack)

The technicalities are a bit beyond me, but the final result is (once again) very enjoyable. Thanks again, Will, your comments are always appreciated. I tried to find a useful comparison between using a synth like Yoshimi and using VCV Rack, but I'm not coming up with many contingencies. Yoshimi's ...

Re: Strings & Arpeggio (an exercise with VCV Rack)

I find that two elements have to be distinguished. The composition (chords, notes, arp) and the VCV rack. I find it's rather easy to appreciate the chords and the progression. On the other hand, the sounds emanating from the VCV rack are a bit less than stellar IMHO. As the piece plays one can wish...

Strings & Arpeggio (an exercise with VCV Rack)

Re: Grayed In [motile ambience from VCV Rack]

This is really cool, kind of sounds like menu/idle BGM for a game. Also, thanks for introducing VCV Rack. I think it's really interesting, although it seems pretty daunting to come up with a patch such as the one you used for this. Good stuff. Thank you very much, I'm glad you enjoyed my little son...

Re: Grayed In [motile ambience from VCV Rack]

The ambience and flow remind me of David Crosby's instrumental, Tamalpais High (At About 3:00). One could easily find parts to piece together a theme or three, and as it is, playing along with it is an enjoyable way to break in some new strings, and replenish calouses  Two thumbs up emoji ! :...

Re: Grayed In [motile ambience from VCV Rack]

@folderol and @psyocean - Belated thanks for your listening patience and comments, all much appreciated. The VCV Rack expansion continues, there are many new and tasty modules to research & deploy, but I find myself most interested in the construction of complex patches built from simple compone...
