Ubuntu upgrade - should have pressed Y??
Just upgraded on Ubuntu 16.04 with your repositories enabled and think I hit N when I should have hit Y. I admit it's my fault for not reading properly the first time and thinking it was related to the configuration file you are offered to change on initial steps. Then a similar message came up and ...

Re: 14.04.04 LTS update - anybody tried it?
Well I never knew they had started basically back-porting kernels from later version into point releases in Ubuntu. I thought a simple dist-upgrade was meant to give you all the updates as you would have by installing from a later point release iso image. Seems that hasn't been the case for a few ye...

Re: Package requests here! (New and updates)
Hi falkTX, I was hoping that with Ubuntu 14.04.3 audacity gets upgraded but they stick to 2.0.5 You will never see it in Ubuntu! I mean within 14.04 by that. They ONLY do security upgrades once a release is out. Upgrades to the likes of Audacity are not going to affect security so they wont be upda...

Re: Jack Buffer vs Periods Trade-off
Set periods to 2. Other values are needed only if other hardware interferes with audio operation such that 2 periods won't suffice. ie, The other settings are intended primarily for badly behaving systems. JACK should default to 2, I've personally often found that 3 is more stable, but as you say i...

Re: [SOLVED]KXStudio: Ardour no longer free ~ dependancy pro
I had a similar-ish problem when I installed KXStudio and tried to update from a base install at the time SourceForge was down. Falk managed to rescue me from having to reinstall from scratch by giving me a few pointer. I will try and lay out the basic steps I took. Everything else was just sending ...

Re: rc.local help
No, all it means is running manually from a terminal so you can see the output of the parts that are failing, you will see errors. I'm getting a bit lost in it all I have to say, what exactly isn't working then? My SSD isn't being trimmed[1] with the fstrim command[2] and the Wastebin isn't being e...

Re: rc.local help
Just saw this, maybe it would help? In my case none of the instructions were a perfect solution. If you were as unlucky as me, try this detailed one Put all your executing code in a separate text file with an arbitrary name such as foo.sh and save it in an arbitrary place. Add #!/bin/sh as first li...

Re: [SOLVED]No seek bar on audio players and sound issues
Don't suppose you'd mind having a look at this thread and seeing if you have any ideas as it is KXStudio I am running. As it shouldn't be specific to the distro I'm running I posted it in the more general forum. Guess I could post to the Ubuntu forum as well if nobody seems to know (although I prett...

Re: rc.local help
The arch wiki is very well laid out. Worth a couple hours, with format and fstab tips. Cheers Just clicked you said fstab. I believe the majority of my fstab edits came from reading Arch Wiki (which mostly agreed with the other sites I read but I personally think their wiki was by far the best writ...

Re: rc.local help
Hi, I didn't get the full grasp of what you're doing, but it looks like you're wiping out the log with the last line. echo all working > /home/xxx/bootcheck.txt should be instead echo all working >> /home/xxx/bootcheck.txt BR, LX To be honest I didn't really need to add the text on any of the lines...

rc.local help
I have recently upgraded RAM and fitted an SSD to my laptop and installed KXStudio on it. I have read a few guides for optimising the SSD and believed I had come up with options which should work. The thing is now I don't believe the lines I have added to rc.local are giving the behaviour I would ex...

Re: [SOLVED]No seek bar on audio players and sound issues
I noticed another problem a couple of days ago, while still using the Mono3.0 theme, and I could not see the text in the entry fields when typing into Facebook using Firefox. Not tested since I've changed to XFCE-Dusk and I don't even know which GUI framework Firefox uses or if it might be related....
