Re: vcvrack.com - open source modular
anyone knows how to do LFO in this thing? spent about 2 hours and still can't figure out how to make any oscillator go to sub-audio range. and no such thing as dedicated LFO module available, so by design this should be done somehow with generic oscillators, right? p.s. hint: one can drastically red...

Re: Synthesizer with build-in USB-MIDI/Audio-Interface
USB audio capabilitiy is uncommon feature on synths (unlike USB midi).
it's mainly because coexisting of a few USB audio interfaces or USB with non-USB audio interfaces in one system considered troublesome (major synchronization issues etc).

Re: Ubuntu vs opensuse for a regular user in 2017
about btrfs: i don't recommend it. i've been using it for quite a long time and migrated back to ext4. 1) in case of filesystem inconsistency, it behaves MUCH worse than xfs or ext4. you often even ca't mount your root filesystem, even read only. 2) RT kernels don't work with btrfs properly. (that's...

try changing
to
spiralsynth is really old piece of software, and iostream.h is deprecated, so this might solve the problem.

Re: Your favourite music programming environment?
supercollider.
(at least because signal routing in csound is a nightmare.)
i don't use it for the synthesis (anymore), because i really intend to replace all my sequencers with supercollider one day, so focused on MIDI/OSC processing and algorythmic generation/variation.

Re: New Step Sequencer
My idea is to have banks of patterns, where each bank is assigned a specific note, and when that note is pressed during playback, the assigned pattern would play. this resembles non-sequencer in a trigger mode, which is my favorite tool to play various electronic dance styles live. would love to ha...

Re: New Step Sequencer
wow! as far as i can understand the logic and the forkflow from screenshots, this is very cool and handy thing. especially i like „children“ and „siblings“ buttons ) actually, there's not so many step sequencers out there. definitely must play with it. p.s. since you definitely got Bitwig modular ze...

Re: Paul Davis at LAC 2017
as for me, linux is just the best, because it's the only system nowadays, that allows one to build a rig in a modular, i mean really modular fashion. i agree that «ein DAW, ein reich, ein führer» approach is in general easier to handle for a typical user, but it's not that universal and that good fo...

Re: Paul Davis at LAC 2017
just my 5 cents. 1) linux audio ecosystem complexity is strongly overestimated. just PR and social engineering, nothing else. 2) complexity of windoze & mac audio ecosystems is strongly underestimated. again, just PR and social engineering, nothing else. 3) all software in the world is buggy shi...

Re: Zynaddsubfx 3.0.2 - The “Liquefaction” Release
With this powerful new system you can create arbitrary mappings of up to 4 parameters to a single knob. We hope you find this feature useful and exciting as it develops further. You can look through our current documentation on the feature at: http://zynaddsubfx.sourceforge.net/doc/automations/para...
