Re: RME Babyface Pro USB audio interface
Thanks for the detailed report Be., this will be useful to quite a few people here ;-) Out of curiosity: how low can you push the latency in class compliant mode, with let's say mixxx or anything a bit heavy like ardour? I can smoothly run it down to 2.67 ms on my 5 year old laptop with a Core i5 u...

Re: RME Babyface Pro USB audio interface
On another forum, someone asked an RME rep if the dsp effects work in class compliant mode, and he replied they do not. The manual states likewise. That's why I didn't buy one. I don't think this is quite true. The iPad version of RME's TotalMix program can manipulate the DSP effects in class compl...

Re: RME Babyface Pro USB audio interface
I haven't gotten a chance to do much testing with that yet. I'll experiment with both the threadirqs option with the normal Fedora kernel and the RT patchset kernel from Planet CCRMA.

RME Babyface Pro USB audio interface
Hiya, I got the recently released RME Babyface Pro and I'm reporting that it works well with Linux in class compliant mode. I'm using Fedora 23 with Linux 4.2.6-301.fc23.x86_64. To activate class compliant mode, hold both the bottom buttons (Select and Dim) as you plug in the USB cable. You only nee...

Re: normal Linux kernels with threadirqs vs RT patchset
I have been told the rt is more important with usb devices; might be worth bearing that in mind with testing. What system says the latency is and the xruns you get in certain scenarios are two different things. With my actual setup, Compaq Presario CQ61 + ArchBang + Focusrite Scarlett 2i4, I can ha...

normal Linux kernels with threadirqs vs RT patchset
What are your experiences using normal Linux kernels with the threadirqs parameter versus realtime patched kernels? Is there a significant difference in the minimum latency you can use? Any differences in reliability of the audio stream (clicks and pops)? Any difference in overall system stability? ...

Re: Mixxx DJ Hardware Guide: list of sound cards & controlle
Hi Be. Nice that you tackle the long overdue Mixxx controller documentation update. I just had a look and have some comments regarding the Hercules DJ Console RMX (1st gen): This one deserves a warning - the wiki shouldn't give the wrong assumption that it works out of the box with HID or MIDI on L...

Mixxx DJ Hardware Guide: list of sound cards & controllers
I recently rewrote Mixxx's hardware compatibility wiki page with a big list of controllers and sound cards along with prices, some technical specifications, and of course Linux compatibility. This list is focused on DJing, so I left out most sound cards that only have 2 outputs.
