Re: Problem with Mackie ProFx10v3

I don't know what you want to do: record your playing on the piano on the Mackie? The Piano itself is already an audio device (i.e. like a sound card). In theory you don't need an extra audio device (i.e. the Mackie) for that. I ain't no expert on the USB kernel module (you'd call that a driver in W...

Re: Problem with Mackie ProFx10v3

If you have several USB audio devices connected, then you need something like this: options snd_usb_audio vid=0x0a73 pid=0x0023 quirk_flags=0x20 Also note that latest LTS and stable kernels have a workaround for this firmware bug. Wait a minute. Is the Roland Piano he's talking about an audio devic...

Re: Problem with Mackie ProFx10v3

Do you have a link? Yes, is here: https://linuxmusicians.com/viewtopic.php?t=26699 Thanks. However, I've got a sneakin' suspicion that your distro uses PipeWire so somebody else should help you. The truth is that I don't know if Ubuntu Studio uses PipeWire, as far as JackAudio is concerned I can sa...

Re: Problem with Mackie ProFx10v3

[...] I read a thread in this forum from someone who says they managed to get it to work. I have tried the solution you propose but I have not achieved anything. Do you have a link? According to the FAQ from Mackie themselves "You do not need any drivers to use the mixer with a macOS or iOS&qu...

Re: Switching to Linux for better drivers?

I've recently changed my audio interface to an Motu M2 because my other one was broken and although this is a really great interface hardware-wise its drivers on windows are quite lackluster. It glitches quite a lot at times. The ASIO4ALL drivers make it way better though, way less glitches but at ...

Re: Tascam US-16x08 suddenly recognized as output only

Which "settings panel"? Settings/Sound in ubuntu, the symbol is that little gearwheel [...] That may be PulseAudio's settings. Your Ubuntu installation might use Gnome as its Desktop Environment, mine uses XFCE4 and I don't have said cog-wheel. I assume that PA automatically uses audio ca...

Re: Qtractor and plugin control from recorded clip doesn't work?

Hm... Checked in settings menu - It was blacklisted in Qtractor (and some other pluggins to ). Removed from blacklist, reloaded, restarted Qtractor, It still apears in blacklisted. Maybe something wrong with plugin. I have that problem too when I use YABridge (its developer is active on this forum)...

It seems my American friend, might be installing Reaper.

If he hasn't used a DAW before he's gonna be in for a surprise, ha ha. Too me all DAW's are incomprehensible. But I sincerely hope your collaboration will flourish! :)

Don't give up.

Maybe I need to add, that the guitar guy does not wanna use any daw. I was already trying for him to use Ardour which has windows version. (He is on windows) Would he record in Ardour, I think all my problems would be solved. We have to start some were, and he for now just wants to record his play,...

Re: syncing

Interesting question. I'd use some sort of standard Midi file (.mid). To generate the drums for example. A Midi file is sort of "universal" and is probably compatible with any- or almost any DAW. You could create one w/ Midieditor or Qtractor etc. Make sure it's got Tempo info (Midieditor ...

Re: Zebralette 3

It is stunningly deep and rich. If a free single oscillator synth with no filter can sound this good I can't wait to hear what Zebra 3 will be capable of. So I have an incredibly ignorant question, but my dad once told me those are the ones worth asking the most. This is a synth, right? It creates…...

Re: I need help! What is the most perfectly functioning audio/midi Interface for Linux?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Midas_Consoles Midas has been acquired a while ago by the same company that owns Behringer. Now Behringer can claim they have Midas preamps on board. It's all marketing I guess and for me the quote is spot on, we probably can't hear any difference in a blind test betwe...

Re: I need help! What is the most perfectly functioning audio/midi Interface for Linux?

How is the sound quality of these Mackie devices? They are so cheap, that I almost worry that they will be like those no-name brands that are available from China. You can't beat the price, but you also get what you pay for. That's my main worry with them. Isn't Mackie a well respected brand? Shoul...
