Re: Wireless MIDI in Linux
Sill having no luck on Ubuntu (19.04) with bluetooth. The Yamaha devices are detected but MIDi is not found in amidi or jackctrl. In windows (10) it works fine. It looks like the BLE MIDI stack in Linux is still not complete. A few years back the ALSA team mentioned something they did not look into ...

Re: SCARLETT 3RD GEN just announced
Running the 18i20 Gen 1 on Ubuntu low latency with Jack 128fresm/3 period/buffer 8msec + an Octopre dynamic and zero XRUNs just fine :-). 64Kb (4msec) is just at the border with some XRUNS A bit disappointed the 2nd ADAT does not allow expansion to 24 channels @ 44KHz, I send FR requests so many tim...

Re: Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 with jackd: Unknown driver "hw:USB"
I have this with the 18i20 Gen 1 sometimes , interface gone in Linux and Windows at boot (no lsusb). Power of, boot the OS, back again. works. \Weird. Sometimes Qjackctrl dus gives DBUS error. Reboot. ok. does not happens so often, once the 18i20 runs, it's solid as a rock.

Re: Synthesizer with build-in USB-MIDI/Audio-Interface
MIDI :Tested myself: DSI REV2, P6, P12 and, Roland Integra 7 all work. Devices not being USB MDI compliant are becoming very rare. You can always plug a USB/MIDI interface via MIDI DIN in between, like the 2x2, 4x4 or a Mio Audio: Very few Synths have USB Audio. Roland AIRA products all support audi...

Focusrite 18i20 Gen2 ALSA mixer support
According to Focusrite the USB implementation of the Gen 2 should not be (much) different than on the Gen 1.
In that case, perhaps a simple kernel update to ALSA to add the vendor / device ID would just do to get it to work.
Just need someone who has the Gen2 and can add/test such change....

Re: Future Linux audio hardware Interface support
Take a look at this recent thread about TB(3) on Windows and Intel chipset/firmware/driver issues. Probably enough to stay away from TB3. I have to say I was a pretty happy Thunderbolt 2 user (on the Mac) and bought and used a big long chain of TB2 docks and equipment. The Windows world's implementa...

Re: MOTU LP32 USB/AVB to 4 ADAT
Contacted MOTU. According to MOTU the LP32 should be able to be seen in Linux. (via USB) The LP32 device does not support Linux nor Windows over AVB, only Mac. It has a web/network interface, so I guess configuration changes can be made via the HTML web interface. Thus no ALSA Mixer needed. (Not sur...

Re: Beyond 16 channels
Thanks ! It's just that Firewire is being phased out. How long more for Windows/Mac to support it as well.... Just got an OctoPre MKII dynamic and just 2 months later it was phased out of production by the lower spec'ed (audio wise) Scarlett but with 96Khz support. Though it's ADAT so still (re) use...

MOTU LP32 USB/AVB to 4 ADAT
Has anyone tried this if this works under Linux for USB 2.0 ? (and wishful thinking AVB if anyone has a Ethernet card supporting AVB) The spec states "1 x USB 2.0 audio class compliant " => This gives hope. Really thinking about to get this. (Even if just able to use it under Windows 10) h...

RME Digiface USB to 4 ADAT
RME confirmed that the USB interface is not USB audio compliant and does not support Linux.
This would have been an ideal, low cost, solution to get up to 16 + channels reusing existing interfaces with ADAT.

Re: Support of audio interfaces under Linux
Hope someday we see a project started to design a USB / AVB / TB3 hardware interface for Linux. The project could start based on a open hardware development board supporting AVB/TB3/USB and then develop the kernel driver and software support under Linux over a few years by this community. Just like ...
