Convert Mint to KXStudio. Cinnamon vs mate?

Hello fellow Linux musicians, I just saw that Linux Mint released a new beta release based on Ubuntu 18.04 Currently i am downloading both Mate and Cinnamon editions. I am currently using Mate and i am very familiar with this environment. I am using Mate since it was still Gnome2, but i have never u...

Re: KXStudio 18.04 Testing

The network didn't start. I am using dhcp connection, but not only the network manager didn't autoconnect as expected, but i didn't managed to start it throughout the whole session. #systemctl start NetrorkManager and #systemctl start dhcpcd , didn't do anything. I am not sure that the system makes ...

I made this issue, as a bug report / feature request some time ago.

Still hoping for a Cadence 1.0

Re: Cadence 0.9.0 release and KXStudio 18.04 preparations

In cadence there's a warning symbol next to the kernel, what does that mean? http://imgur.com/coaaaxvl.png It should warn you that you are NOT using a Linux kernel recommended for low latency audio production. But in your particular case, the app for some reason failed to acknowledge it. It shouldn...

Re: Cadence and Qjackctl

You can change the sample rate and the frames/period from Catia or Claudia, or create audio or midi bridges from Cadence itself. All of this in real time (not necessarily during the live session though  )

Re: JACK (permissions?) problem, "Connection refused"; only SuperCollider can make sound

The easiest way to check what is your default audio device is to open Qjackctl or Cadence and look which is your HW:0,0 device. You can arrange the order by making a short script in /etc/alsa-base.conf like i did in my example above. Here is a nice manual on the topic from Archlinux wiki: https://wi...

Re: Help about the most recommended Linux distribution and LMMS

I will recommend to use it with Ubuntu Studio. Its my recommendation for out of the box Linux Audio experience. And LMMS is included in the distribution by default. Its a great place to start your journey. Although KXStudio repository provides more and up-to-date applications, it sometimes can be a ...

Re: JACK (permissions?) problem, "Connection refused"; only SuperCollider can make sound

Check if your "default" audio device is indeed your soundcard, and not for example ALSA loopback device. What exactly was this "crash on monday"? What happened exactly? Maybe some of this could help you: https://www.linuxmusicians.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=17780&hilit=cadence+tips#p87243 IMHO Cadence...

Re: Video and audio freeze when JACK is on

Try this,
Open your Pulseaudio volume control app, and change the output to Jack. Or try force reloading jack from Cadence.
Ubuntu Studio is set to work out-of-the-box. But Cadence is NOT part of this experience.

Re: Need some help getting my interface set up

Ubuntu Studio has out-of-the-box audio configurations. So if you don't know what you are doing, there is a little to no point to configure it any further. There is a real possibility to make things worse. Cadence is not an official part of Ubuntu Studio. Instead US rely on the classic Qjackctl. Both...

Re: Arch based audio distro

Hello Archies, I am using Arch, or its 100% free software version - Parabola GNU/Linux-libre, since 2014. And this is the only Linux distribution that never feel like a compromise. https://www.linuxmusicians.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=14907 A some time ago i made two useful applications aimed to make P...

Re: AV Linux 2018... what kernel do ya want for default??

Hello Glen, my old buddy, I have a couple of side questions. When the new installation image is expected to be released? Is there a testing image available? Perhaps i could contribute with testing and ideas. For example i believe that for the current setup (PulseAudio+Jack) Its better to use Alsa vo...

Re: Intel CPU security flaw

Has anyone else been following this? Can we expect a performance hit in music applications? I hope not. In less than a year, both Intel and Mozilla, two of the finest examples of freedom respecting companies, betrayed us and let us down. And although i am quite happy, using Chromium and Epiphany, I...

Re: AV Linux 2018... what kernel do ya want for default??

Hi Glen, I see it this way. What we choose to use is what has value to us. Its what will prevail in the future. Looking at it that way, the choice should be Linux-RT. Because at the end it is more important in the bigger picture, than proprietary video drivers. We must encourage what has value to us...

Dont do request or bugs on this forum and expect them to gain any tracktion... Stuff is either on an official bug report on github, or it gets forgotten. I heard you. I just added four bug reports/requests in the Cadence github page. I hope to see Cadence on your table soon. The app becomes too man...
