Re: Inspired by Todd Rundgren & who else?
Roberto Ferrante (He didn't sing on the tracks but afaik the rest was him) The Pineapples track may have been done with not much more than a Linn, Korg Poly 6 and a multitrack recorder with the keyboard parts played in live but I could be mistaken and don't have more authoritative info. https://www....

Re: [ANN] M1000 Manager - Oberheim Matrix-1000 patch editor
You understood it correctly, "Read From" is supposed to read the current edit buffer from the Matrix-1000 into the editor. Providing you have configured the MIDI IN device correctly in the editor and connected the MIDI OUT port of the Matrix-1000 to the MIDI IN port of your PC MIDI interf...

Re: Debian Jessie and KX Studio, anyone using this?
Is that error preventing Ardour from starting if you manually punch in a few device settings (corresponding to whatever your Jack is set to run to and Jack is already running) and select jack from the Ardour menu? I'm asking because I see similarish behaviour on my system with a self-compiled 3.18 P...

Re: $9 mini computer
I'm unconvinced by this device. The real price isn't $9, it's $14 in the US and $29 if you're outside the US. There's no decent video... add-ons are needed and price quickly climbs past raspi2 territory (which already has a track record, tons of users, software & accessories and 1GB of RAM). Nob...

Re: [ANN] M1000 Manager - Oberheim Matrix-1000 patch editor
You need to assign 'Lever 2' (source) to 'VCF Frequency' (destination) on one of the 10 available Modulation Matrix slots (on the second smaller window). Thanks so much! I forgot which source to use and last time I tried it with the original firmware the M1000 didn't work well anyway and kept crash...

Been trying this out and it seems very nice! Thank you so much for your hard work.
The 116 firmware seems a lot quicker at doing parameter changes so now if only I can figure out how to assign the mod wheel to do filter sweeps

Re: Package requests here! (New and updates)
I thought that the main reason to stick to 14.04 was that it's a LTS. So your not forced to upgrade every 9 months, if you decided to do so. One needs to differentiate between the OS version & KX package updates. So 14.04 is a Linux distro version, it is subject to its own update regime via Ubu...

Re: BackupBand sneak peek
Much obliged Jeff, Band in a Box type functionality has been somewhat lacking under Linux although there have been some attempts to address this.

Re: Package requests here! (New and updates)
I was talking to some people today, and they mentioned a few users don't actually update software once they start producing music (less risks). This seems logical, one configures a baseline system which has all the required packages & functionality and then test it to confirm stability and then...

Re: Errors in MIDI stream
Do you have a spare MIDI interface that you can connect and test with? I had problems with stuck notes, xruns and all kinds of weird problems while using one soundcard's onboard MIDI whilst a different make and model card's MIDI was working fine. Still am not sure what was causing the problems on th...

Re: Best soundcard with 4-5 microphone inputs for Linux DAW
My experience with Ardour is limited but here's a Muse example with a 9652 which should be similarish to a 9632 under Linux (I hope): Connect analog audio sources ===> the AD/DA Converter Analog Inputs AD/DA ADAT OUT ===> RME 9652 ADAT IN The HDSP Mixer app can be used to mix audio in the computer. ...

Re: issues with new grafics card
Well.... not much I can tell you about Firewire, try working your way through some of the diagnostics in this thread but the information is probably somewhat out of date by now so there may be more recent and up to date ways to get the device detected.

Re: jackdbus taking 95% of my CPU
Since disabling jackdbus I don't seem to be experiencing this issue any longer but it is also possible that the fix was related to some other action. I cannot be certain any longer because I changed and tried so many things. What seems to work for me: jack2, qjackctl or starting jack from a terminal...

Re: issues with new grafics card
From what I understood (and please forgive me if I didn't keep proper track of the issue) you replaced a working nVidia card with an upgrade / newer AMD Card, and then the video stopped working. So... the older nVidia card worked because at the time that you installed it the OS was supported, driver...
