Re: Low Latency Kernel On Ubuntu 18.04 LTS

Hi there The learning curve (to really get to the point where you understand things and your system is mostly working well) is quite steep, so be prepared to do a lot of reading & experimentation. Also, if you really want to learn about kernels, configuration etc you probably need a spare drive ...

Re: Linux support Behringer UMC404HD?

I work around the Firefox ALSA issues by using PaleMoon browser. Unless they've recently dropped ALSA it should still work. Chrome may also support it but since I don't use it I cannot be sure. It also used to be possible to compile FF yourself with ALSA, but at some point they were going to remove ...

Re: Sightreading

How to improve sightreading? There's no mystery to it, it just takes practice practice practice and it requires one to actually go read the music & play. (And obviously learn where the notes are on at least the bass & treble cleffs). Computer programs aren't really the solution to learning t...

Re: Linux support Behringer UMC404HD?

The Preempt / 1000Hz combo works pretty well for audio & general desktop computing. It's a good all-rounder.
RT Kernel's can be tricky & problematic and I didn't notice much if any benefit over a Preempt kernel with regards to xruns.

Re: alsa wants to use my gpu..!

AVLinux may be another way to start out, it's already set up with much of what would typically be required and would be one way to "ease into Linux audio". And yes, the learning curve is unfortunately steep and requires significant investments in time & tinkering.

Re: jack not working says cannot start server

It's worthwhile reading the System configuration guide.

https://wiki.linuxaudio.org/wiki/system_configuration

In your case I would pay particular attention to the sections including:

limits.conf/audio.conf
audio group
PulseAudio

Re: Haven: Keep Watch - Snowden’s New App (GPLv3)

Snowden's app isn't much use really. A smartphone is inherently a spying device. The only way to offer a little bit of protection to your personal space is to get rid of "smart" phones and all kinds of stupid IOT (Internet of Things) devices (also things like Amazon Echo) and to stay away ...

Re: Decline of the instrumental intro in pop music

And if reach my goal i kind off prove what you say. That each fool can create nice music that with some some luck becomes a hit. There are many jokers who have had hit records. The records became hits because of marketing of course but also because the people making it tapped into some kind of funn...

And now i perhaps reach it quicker now i know i have to do it in my underware. That trick only works if you are female and attractive . In case you fail those requirements, the next best industry bet is to become a "studio gangsta". Like this guy. http://edge-img.datpiff.com/m67...

Re: Decline of the instrumental intro in pop music

- The arrangements are formulaic, tailored to current fads in which the average listener has been indoctrinated into. Is something wrong with that? When i make music i often too use proven arrangement styles to eventually try to make something 'popular'. This fits my goal to one time create some sm...

Re: Decline of the instrumental intro in pop music

Some interesting points in his analyses although I'm also not entirely on board with everything he mentions. My opinion: - TS songwriting is .... well... forgettable. She has no songwriting talent whatsoever. - The arrangements are formulaic, tailored to current fads in which the average listener ha...

Re: jack not working says cannot start server

#1 - Has pulseaudio been killed and disabled from respawning? Ensure it is not running, nor respawning, before continuing. #2 - For the purposes of experimentation to get jack working, back up your existing .asoundrc file and then remove the existing .asoundrc file before continuing. #3 - You are us...

Re: Is a realtime kernel needed?

The laptop of course is not same specs as my desktop and I do get "the magic single xrun" showing up once in a while, out of no where. Like every 10-15 min, even though the settings seems to work pretty good for monitoring without distracting latency. Run something like iotop & htop, ...
