Mini-guide for networking with Jack
This guide builds on my personal experience in making such a networking setup. It doesn't aim to cover every corner case. Basically it is to tell you what works for me and a bit about what doesn't and where are the pitfalls. Prerequisites and general considerations: This guide assumes you have some ...

Re: Mini-guide for compiling Carla from source
thanks for this tangerine. I've tried compiling carla from source a couple of times but never got very far. Yeah, the whole compiling thing on Linux (and in general) involves so many different frameworks, it takes some time and digging into more or less obscure manuals to even begin to understand i...

Re: Mini-guide for compiling Carla from source
I believe the issue with 64bit windows plugins should now be fixed. if you want to test it, just: sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install carla-git carla-bridge-win64 add the vst path in settings and refresh. I confirmed it working on debian testing and ubuntu 12.04. I used baloo, crystal and equi...

Re: Mini-guide for compiling Carla from source
the issue is building the wine bridges yourself. this is a very hard, test-time consuming task that I haven't completed yet. Maybe that's a good time to say that I really appreciate your work on KXstudio. Quite impressive that all of that has been created by one person. It aims for high quality cod...

Re: Mini-guide for compiling Carla from source
I don't like this at all... If you're building something from source you're on your own when reporting bugs (when related to wine/mingw). Because you're using a custom build it will have different issues over the repository packages, or may even be outdated or out-of-sync (newer carla with older br...

Mini-guide for compiling Carla from source
Hi all, while installing KXstudio for the fourth time, I thought this would be a good idea to have all the prerequisites you should need to compile Carla listed in one place. Then it somehow grew to be more like a "how-to" guide which it is now. However I do not claim completeness or even ...

Re: Bugs and requests for KXStudio 14.04
After reinstalling kxstudio in 64-bit and trying to build Carla in that environment, I noticed that pyqt4-dev-tools is also required, otherwise compiler will complain that it cannot find pyrcc4. So perhaps it should be added to dependency list in Install.md.

Re: KX mini manual
Thank you for this manual. Helped me decide that I need to switch to 64-bit KXstudio. Initially I downloaded the 32-bit version of KXstudio, as I thought that would improve compatibility. But then I noticed that all ubuntu packages come with -i386 suffix, which supposedly means that they are poorly ...

Re: Loading Windows VSTs within Carla
I know about those, it can happen depending on your mingw (specially if it's old). It doesn't happen with the one I use. if you have 14.04 you can use it too https://launchpad.net/~kxstudio-debian/+archive/ubuntu/mingw True, the warnings are gone with the mingw32 from the repository. Thanks for the...

Re: Bugs and requests for KXStudio 14.04
I tested latest (as in "2-hours old", haha) Carla from git source with native plugins on one of my 32-bit systems, this time with audio driver (and not with a network driver) and a medium-low latency (buffer size:128, that laptop or it's built-in intel HDA interface refused to start jack w...

Re: Loading Windows VSTs within Carla
"make win32" [in mingw32 environment] produces a considerable amount of warnings related to CarlaString.hpp. Such as: make -C source/bridges-plugin win32 make[1]: Entering directory `/home/joe/Desktop/Carla-compile/Carla/source/bridges-plugin' i686-pc-mingw32-g++ CarlaBridgePlugin.cpp -Wal...

Re: Loading Windows VSTs within Carla
Thanks StudioDave, I have already started to think there is some underground winVST bridge hidden from mortalsStudioDave wrote:Try "airwave vst" instead of airware. First hit from Google:

Re: Bugs and requests for KXStudio 14.04
Regarding "Network Options" and in general networking configuration in Cadence, I suggest to split it into 2 distinct parts, as is the case with Jack's architecture. In fact, I think there is no need in separate "Network options", instead I would suggest to have 2 things: (1) dri...

Re: Bugs and requests for KXStudio 14.04
Took a look at zita-njbridge, seems like a jack2 Netadapter reimplementation. Not sure what's the difference and why the need to reimplement. Jack2 provides a modular toolset by design, and Netadapter is a relatively small portion of this toolset, not necessarily initialized for jack network communi...
