Re: Fighting with my new Mobo ~and the winner is . .
Congrats on the victory. Defeat is not a linux user option. I recently got the new guitarix running on a distro that only had a .11 era version. It took a lot of alien conversions from debian sid dependency lists, and libavahi-gobject installed without errors, but wasn't listed in file managers, and...

Re: dll vs exe plugins
jack-dssi-host loads dssi files with .so extensions, I wonder if this app
could be modified to work with linux vsts? That would be low cpu fun!

Re: U-he native linux Diva is working in Carla
I posted some error info regarding u-he gui not working in Carla, in the u-he linux topic at kvr.
Perhaps there will be a fix soon. Bitwig is nice, but pricey. Maybe a Traction user here could try these,
and mention the results?
Cheers

Re: dll vs exe plugins
Thanks guys for your help. I'm especially curious to test out some recent .exe VSTi's like the ones from u-he. Arturia has some interesting synths that I'd like to test too, at least the demos. Just to see. The native linux u-he plugins have a .so extension, so the ability to launch them as a stand...

Re: U-he native linux Diva is working in Carla
Presswerk (a compressor) works after I reinstalled it. These are V3193, but not all the folders reflect that after installation.
Looks like Zebra2, Zebrify, and Zebralette all appear during the Zebra2 install, but along
with Uhbik, are still not showing any ports.

Re: U-he native linux Diva is working in Carla
After dealing with the firewood and breakfast, Ace, Bazille, Podolski, and Satin also worked. Bazille reported it had too many parameters for the native Carla control panel, (Berlin Modularitus) but the sound was working. I'll reinstall Zebra2, Zebrify, and the Uhbiks later. For some reason, they sh...

U-he native linux Diva is working in Carla
edit: New release of both Carla, and U-he linux vsts, nice successes! Of the new U-he versions 3482, there is good news ACE, Bazille, Diva, and Podolski all working in Carla, with the U-he gui's, including preset loading. (adjusting the quality function in Diva crashed Carla) Hive shows the new gui,...

Re: dll vs exe plugins
the .dll plugin files can ususally be run with fst or fsthost command, using wine. This will not supply any host features, so using instruments with built-in preset load/save in the gui may be preferred. the .exe files are executables, not plugins, as noted above. There are a few apps, that come in ...

Re: Which budget USB sound card?
Another option for Guitar is a Fender Mustang 1 usb amp. The 24 hardware presets can be edited/created with an app called 'plug', for accesing the modeled amps, cabs, stomp, and rack gear in the amps firmware. Even bias and sag can be edited. Plug is in the debian repos. Used Mustangs often are adve...

Re: Install KXStudio on computer
There are many videos, google youtube ubuntu install. Have you booted a ubuntu live cd/dvd to test? If it works, this is about a 97.9 % proof that the install will work. Better to know the love, than to kiss a brick  Linux magazines often have a ubuntu version on cover dvd, if downloading and ...

Re: Bitwig Studio 1.1 with plugin latency compensation
(for me) more interestingly you can finally sidechain using an individual cell in a drum machine now, I couldn't believe you couldn't do this before considering it is targeted towards modern electronic music. Definitely good to see the latency compensation though. Some of the modulation possibiliti...

Re: Bitwig Studio 1.1 with plugin latency compensation
Hi all, got the newsletter from Bitwig where they announce the first major update 1.1 for Bitwig Studio. I am surprised that they sold their first final version without this feature. Bitwig Studio is quite expensive after all. Business startups can be difficult. If it's several people teaming toget...
