This page uses social media and search results, and has different daw choice results,
with the exception that linux products are not also shown as not a no-show.

Re: Linux music as a major player...

A recent 2014 'favorite daw' poll, on a sleazy major-player website, based on 768 votes: steinberg 180 logic 145 pro-tools 105 reaper 92 ableton 74 studio one 58 cakewalk 35 bitwig 10 Quite a few others received fewer than 10 votes. This shows the scope of the situation, when contemplating linux aud...

Re: LMMS 1.0.0 is finally out

Again sad news... The LMMS forum is down. This is because SourceForge has decided to quit offering the service of hosting a phpBB on their site, and thus the LMMS forum was taken down (without any notice to any of our developers, as far as I know - nice one, SF). So for now, the LMMS forum is down,...

Re: Linux music as a major player...

There are a lot of people working very hard, and only to make their bosses and CEOs richer and richer. What's the point? brian 1. Support yourself. 2. Support your family. 3. Contribute to local infrastructure. 4. Have something to give to the poor. 5. Help the boss and ceo (and the team) to succee...

Re: Linux music as a major player...

Just for the record, I didn't call anybody lazy. A work ethic can be learned and embraced, or mocked and rejected. It can be encouraged by leadership, or hindered with taxation and regulation. Examples from around the world, and throughout history, do abound. Cheers What is a "work ethic"...

Re: Linux music as a major player...

But in any case, if Paul doesn't have time to deal with the issue, then maybe someone should volunteer to handle the finances for Ardour - setting up and managing accounts, wallets, etc. and directing the funds to the developers. Maybe a foundation should be set up to handle these things. Maybe tha...

Re: Linux music as a major player...

As for how much, the $1 minimum probably is too low. Maybe $10 would be more appropriate. Is it awful to say that if someone (i.e. 3rd worlders) can't afford that they can learn to compile from source? I agree, the minimum is too low. I also think developers hurt themselves by not routinely creatin...

Re: Linux music as a major player...

The reality is that people are victims of forces beyond their control. While true, that is not the last page of the story. If one's vocation, or city, or state, or nation, is circling the drain, it is time to move on. When people in Europe saw WWII was coming, smart families gathered their wealth, ...

... I entered the lecture hall to about 50 students with their glowing white Macbook Pro Apple logos facing me.. not even a Windows laptop in the house! Even the poorest of students already had a Macbook and Pro-Tools... Probably because they were forced to purchase them. I believe that's the case ...

Re: Linux music as a major player...

hehe.. A non-politcal observation... A couple of years ago a friend who is the placement guy in a well-established private Audio recording school asked me to come in and do a lecture on recording with FLOSS because in his estimation a large number of the students had student loans and would not be ...

Every generation ever? We've had 35 years of home computers,15 years of internet available to common folk. Printing began circa the T'ang dynasty. Clearly these are unprecedented times. Never before has the world seen such successful mass indoctrination, transcending centuries of culture, re-writing...

Re: How bad are xruns?

Just record away, and listen to the playback, if you hear pops/clicks during playback, zoom in using audacity to see the breaks in the signal that are audible, and draw them back to normalcy. You can slow the audacity playback a lot, to help you pinpoint the location. I have heard some loud pops dur...
