Re: My new metal song
Listened to almost all of your stuff. Sound is nice, balance is good, but I hear it can be improved. Try replacing drumkit with DrumGizmo, this change alone will put you to a next level of sound quality. If you have 6 gigs of RAM or more, go for it. And consider mastering with not only multiband lim...

μ - Too Bright by alexthebassist
As I am back into mixing, I do more stuff. This time it's a strange song by indie band μ. Sources are at cambridge-mt.com, if you want to mix it yourself — take your chance.

Re: Ardour + Cinelerra + 4 Cams + Heavy Blues
This is really good, especially mic positioning. I wonder how one can mic up a band in a place that tight and avoid phasing issues and too much bleed (and still keep volumes at a playable level with live drums). Can't say much about video, because I'm not really into it, and, lacking basic knowledge...

Re: Help find a genre for this music ?
I think this can be described as some kind of electronica. This is definitely not rock. Maybe it's close to kraut rock, but still not — groove section doesn't fit any rock-based genre.

Re: Wess Meets West - 64 Bristol
May i ask what your role is within those songs? Are those ohter bands? Are you the base player on them? Or the producer? I mixed and mastered them. Anyway, there are descriptions on SoundCloud that tell where I got the multitrack. This year I plan to release something with my bands too (some indie ...

Re: Wess Meets West - 64 Bristol
After listening to mix on SoundCloud myself I decided to provide 24-bit FLAC instead. Seems that SoundCloud transcodes Ogg Vorbis files to mp3 for playback needs. Drums are completely ruined by two lossy algorithms applied at once. Here's the right version: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8qkxO_e...

Thanks! I don't think so (I'm still worse than guys like Dave Pensado), but it's still pleasing to read such things about myself.ufug wrote:you have mad production skills!

Re: Wess Meets West - 64 Bristol
Are you using a similar set-up for all those tracks on your Soundcloud? Not really similar, I always try new plugins and mess around with convolution reverbs, but in general — yes. I use Debian, Ardour and a sort of estabilished set of plugins, but it constantly changes as Linux audio makes progres...

No, it's good. F**k the loudness war, dude. I like when tracks have dynamics. That's what CD dynamic range is for.If it is too quiet for you

Very nice stuff! And good mixing, which is unfortunately rare nowadays.
